Question - how would UConn do in the SEC this season, or maybe the Big12 last season? Just curious what people think. I honestly don't get caught up the conference thing, March is what counts for me. But conference play does affect seeding, selections, etc.

Latest brackets have the SEC with 13 teams. Might as well call it the SEC invitational when you’re filling close to a quarter of the tourney. There are teams like Missouri finding their way into the top 15 after being a disaster last year.

If Penny does fly the coup at Memphis I’ll gladly take Haggerty in the portal. Not sure Penny is leaving as an alum.

The Caleb Love 60 foot prayer may have killed the Cyclones season. They should be fine but likely played themselves onto the 3 line with these 3 losses.

I said before that I think 13 bids is a stretch for the SEC, and nothing has changed. There are a few teams among that 13, including Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Georgia, whose resumes are kind of thin outside of a lot of quality losses, and their upcoming schedules are pretty rough. Oklahoma is not a lock yet either despite winning the Battle for Atlantis because they have a really tough remaining schedule. I am sure there is some combination of outcomes where all 4 teams make the tournament, but the odds are that 1 or 2 don't make it.

Conversely, they have lot's of chances for signature wins. We'll see, still lots of season to go.

StJ/Marquette at MSG tonight gonna be fun. Lot's of narratives in this one.

I don't have proof, but I highly doubt UVA has ever started a game up 17-0. I would've thought that impossible even against Mississippi Valley.
That's like a 30-0 run for a lot of other teams.

Marquette STRUGGLING offensively. I can see StJ running away with this one. They do what Marquette does just much better.

Jones can’t hit the ocean in the last month. Ben Gold is not a High D1 basketball player. StJ manhandling them on the glass and all loose balls, the stronger team. Neither team can shoot.

Marquette up 5 now.

Kentucky down 23 (54-31) at the half to Ole Miss.

Some injury woes for UK - but still.

If you want to see what Ross could look like next year watch Luis Jr with St John. Actually think Ross is a tad more athletic but not as strong. I like Ross shot better than Luis Jr but to me that is what we get with Ross next year. Maybe not 17.5 pts a game we will have other players and no way Ross will be asked to shoot as much as Luis but a very similar game.

Haven't seen @kobe around in a while. Wonder why? Lol. Life in a real conference isn't so easy, is it? 12-9 overall and 2-8 in the Big 12.

well said! it's no joke playing in a real conference. see this case study:

uconn (church league): loses to colorado, dayton and xavier

cincinnati (power conference): beats colorado, dayton and xavier

it's tough when you play actual teams every game instead of church league bums

Since you guys never make the tournament who do you root for in March?

No better comedy than Rupp after losing a few in a row. It’s officially on shutdown.

After the early love affair with Pope saying how they’re glad they landed their guy, wouldn’t want anything to do with Hurley, they’re about ready to run him outta there. You just can’t make this stuff up. Not sure there is a crazier fanbase in all of sports. Not sure if it’s the meth, the inbreeding or the public education system out there.

Funny end to regulation of Clemson/Georgia Tech. Powell on GT goes full hero ball, taking a contested 3 from about 25-28 feet out, barely hits the rim, but grabs his own rebound and drops it in to get to OT.

You have troll balls, big ones, coming here to diss us. You’re irrelevant. Might get 4 wins in your conference. Just a doormat.

What is it like knowing that even though you are in a “power conference” your schools brand is never going to allow you to be competitive year in and year out. Even making the tournament is a bridge to far. You are doomed to be the DePaul of the Big 12. Since you are comparing common opponents how much did you lose to Baylor by, was it 30 points.

What are Cincinnati’s chances of being able to qualify for the Crown Tournament? Is.500 overall good enough or do you actually need a winning record?

This looks like one of those years where the Committee will have trouble filling the field with deserving teams. Pitt has as good a shot as about 20 other teams fighting for the last 10 spots.
This might be the worst looking bubble in a long time. If things remain more or less static, I'm wondering if there's even going to be whining about snubs.

If anything I'm going to guess more whining. "There's a lot of mediocre teams that got in, so why didn't MY mediocre team get in"

Between 3-4 SEC teams whose only rationale for a bid is quality losses, to the typical Big 12 bubble teams running up the score on Southland opponents to juice their metrics, to mediocre Big 10 teams that are painfully boring to watch, to Xavier's ugly metrics, to the ACC having the worst year a major conference has had in history and its bubble teams still losing to the bad bottom-of-standings teams, this bubble is a train wreck.

#2 Duke at the Dome and leading Cuse 37-23 at the half. Not the rout I thought it would be . . . so far.

14 point lead at the half on the road seems pretty routy to me. If they win by 30 is that not a route?

Duke is sleepwalking and can still get whatever they want.

Wild that Syracuse broke out the wallet for Eddie Lamkin. He'd be the out of shape guy in an open run at LA Fitness.

Very weird, but beggars can't be choosey. Is it weird that I kind of want the Cuse relevant? I just have no idea why these schools commit the chronic sin of letting their old coach weigh in on the new coach. Does it ever work? They need to get rid of Red ASAP. Hire a smart search firm and let them do the work if needed.

They thought Lamkin was a whale when they signed him. And not because he's overweight.

I don't dislike their team, I don't particularly care about them one way or another. But their fanbase danced on what they thought was our grave for years, and as recently as Autry being hired were saying he was going to run circles around Hurley. Their collective misplaced superiority complex is ridiculous. They can be bad forever as far as I'm concerned. Make Indiana good again, I'm fine with that.

I want Cuse, BC, Pitt, and Rutgers to be the most irrelevant possible.

this is one of the features i like at the espn scoreboard. duke has a 99.9% of winning with 8 minutes left. it never dipped below 91%. I don't care if none of those former Big East programs are ever relevant again if they are not in our conference.
