I think Penny leaves for one of the half dozen ACC jobs opening after this season. He will have won 20 games every year for 7 years. There is no way to do better than that at Memphis, and he is wasting his career there.

This is a little old but I could not get over the butt whipping Duke laid on UNC last night. The Devils looked like a pro team and the Heels like a bunch of rec league scrubs. But generally speaking that team is gonna be real tough to beat in the NCAAs. Flagg is great, but the Maluach kid is an absolute load on the block. He was a one man wrecking crew when Carolina got any sort of penetration whatsoever. Proctor and Kneuppel are also very, very good. I was impressed, although it's also pretty clear Scheyer has nothing to do with this and it's ALL natural ability for this crew. He just winds them up, sits back and enjoys the show. They are manifesting what the Zion/Cam/RJ team was supposed to be.

Wouldn't shock me in the least if this is Hubert Davis' swan song in Carolina Blue.

No doubt they've got players. They also lost to both UK (in Atlanta) and KU (in Vegas). We've seen that both UK and KU are beatable. It tells me Duke could be had on a neutral court. Their <10 pt wins at Cameron include Auburn and ND. Wake played them close in Winston-Salem. NC State led by 4 at halftime in Cameron before losing by 10.

Duke and Auburn are 1a/1b to me. But neither is undefeated. And neither coach has a ring.

They can beaten. I'm not going to pretend I know how. But I will say championship DNA is an asset come tourney time.

Duke’s defense, while tough to admit, is very impressive. Hubert Davis’s offense was not.

UNC was doing nothing to create opportunities, and Duke was swallowing them whole.

Size-wise they are a lot like UConn last year. They are crushing teams with their size across the board. Offensively though they are a lot more one-on-one, which is a good and a bad thing for them.

Size wise NC looked very small against Duke besides the talent difference.

Good thing we bagged that Marquette Q1 road W, because our Gonzaga win looks worse and worse each passing day. They lost to St Mary's last night.

And moved one spot in the metrics. Lol.

Watching Kansas and Iowa St. right now.....Bodies flying and contact everywhere and barely any whistles being blown. Refreshing that so far it's not a parade to the foul line.

Pitt loses to Virginia tonight, now 14-8 and 2-6 in last 8 games. Please remove Pitt from all NCAA brackets immediately. I don’t understand what the experts who have brackets see in them. In a weak ACC as well.

This looks like one of those years where the Committee will have trouble filling the field with deserving teams. Pitt has as good a shot as about 20 other teams fighting for the last 10 spots.

Iowa St is quickly fading into oblivion

Haven't seen @kobe around in a while. Wonder why? Lol. Life in a real conference isn't so easy, is it? 12-9 overall and 2-8 in the Big 12.

Please Help GIF by UFC
Don’t fret….,he’ll come back at the end of the year to brag about how they beat Colorado and Dayton while we are preparing for our Sweet 16 matchup

Latest brackets have the SEC with 13 teams. Might as well call it the SEC invitational when you’re filling close to a quarter of the tourney. There are teams like Missouri finding their way into the top 15 after being a disaster last year.

If Penny does fly the coup at Memphis I’ll gladly take Haggerty in the portal. Not sure Penny is leaving as an alum.

The Caleb Love 60 foot prayer may have killed the Cyclones season. They should be fine but likely played themselves onto the 3 line with these 3 losses.

Unless Pitt has a miraculous run in the ACC tourney, they appear done. Dropped 10 spots in NET from that loss down to 45. Capel said was the worst game he's ever been a part of as a coach. He needs to go. There's talent on that team, but very little discipline.

I don't have proof, but I highly doubt UVA has ever started a game up 17-0. I would've thought that impossible even against Mississippi Valley.

Question - how would UConn do in the SEC this season, or maybe the Big12 last season? Just curious what people think. I honestly don't get caught up the conference thing, March is what counts for me. But conference play does affect seeding, selections, etc.

I said before that I think 13 bids is a stretch for the SEC, and nothing has changed. There are a few teams among that 13, including Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Georgia, whose resumes are kind of thin outside of a lot of quality losses, and their upcoming schedules are pretty rough. Oklahoma is not a lock yet either despite winning the Battle for Atlantis because they have a really tough remaining schedule. I am sure there is some combination of outcomes where all 4 teams make the tournament, but the odds are that 1 or 2 don't make it.

Conversely, they have lot's of chances for signature wins. We'll see, still lots of season to go.

StJ/Marquette at MSG tonight gonna be fun. Lot's of narratives in this one.

That's like a 30-0 run for a lot of other teams.

Marquette STRUGGLING offensively. I can see StJ running away with this one. They do what Marquette does just much better.

Jones can’t hit the ocean in the last month. Ben Gold is not a High D1 basketball player. StJ manhandling them on the glass and all loose balls, the stronger team. Neither team can shoot.

Marquette up 5 now.

Kentucky down 23 (54-31) at the half to Ole Miss.

Some injury woes for UK - but still.

If you want to see what Ross could look like next year watch Luis Jr with St John. Actually think Ross is a tad more athletic but not as strong. I like Ross shot better than Luis Jr but to me that is what we get with Ross next year. Maybe not 17.5 pts a game we will have other players and no way Ross will be asked to shoot as much as Luis but a very similar game.
