When did we see them? Had they ever played together before then much? How much time did they get to play together & with that roster and coach? I love a good flex, when it makes sense. This is counter to just about the whole country.
We saw them on December 9th. Both teams hadn't played much together as it was early in the season with new rosters. Silas was very early in the process of trying to be a point guard here, he had 6 points and 1 assist. Braylon missed all that time and only played 11 minutes in the game.

Point is a lot of changed since then. It was also a close game. I’d lean much more heavily on how a team is playing now versus months ago with new rosters.

We lost by double figures to Georgia Tech in the early season in 2004.

Despite you continuing to say this, that criteria factor no longer exists with the committee.

Also, in the example you give, Emeka was hurt.

#8 Purdue thinking about dropping a second in a row to the Buckeyes.

For as much as UConn hears “they didn’t win by much”, they aren’t losing once a week like much of the Top 25.

.-.
Watching Ohio St /Purdue.
1st Half... Purdue 8/14 on 3's and 3/15 on everything else. Live and die.

Your arguments are so non-sensical. Emeka was VERY injured in that game. You say AZ is a completely different team now, but scoff at anyone that mentions we were without Braylon and Reed for that game.

Not sure I’ve ever seen someone constantly move the goalposts as much as you.

Ugh, another major injury in CBB.

Villanova's got a ton of guards, but they don't have a lot of forward depth. 6'6 212 Malachi Palmer will be the team's starting 4 with Hodge out.

If Palmer sits, they have no other healthy scholarship players between 6'5 and 6'10, so I guess either Askew/Perkins would get minutes at the 4 or they go double-bigs w/ Brennan/Pierce.

Either way, tough blow for Villanova as Hodge has been one of the better freshmen in the Big East. 8.6 ppg and 39.4 3P% in conference play.

Alright, so what does the Boneyard say about this. They're currently 29-0, and ranked by the pollsters at 21. KenPom has them at #87, Torvik #78, and EvanMiya #75. They are at #51 in the NET, but have played a single quad 2 game at home, beating Akron by 3.

Their non-conference schedule is one of the worst in the entire country. There's a reason they haven't lost a game. But even considering that, they got to 29-0 against a 10-18 Western Michigan team that is #271 on a buzzer beater.

The simple fact is that if they had lost a game earlier and then lost in their conference tournament, this wouldn't even be a question. But because they managed to beat all the terrible teams on their schedule, only one in the top 100, 7 more in the top 200, now it's an open question if they win out, but lose their conference tournament should they get in as an at large team ?

Simple answer, no. Akron is the better team and there is a better than average chance they lose to Akron in the conference tournament.
What say you ??

Purdue starting to look more and more like a tier 3 team than 2 when it comes to top teams in the country

They really do - rolling back starting thing was way overblown there. Those three just aren’t that talented. Smith is a great player but still has so many deficiencies due to size. He’d be great surrounded by athleticism.

They feel like a S16 max team.

They played a good game against us is my point. And still lost. What’s their signature win? They were just ok OOC. They don’t concern me. Definitely not enough to avoid them lol. Let’s run it.

Florida definitely worries me. They’re good, physical, and are well coached.
Only 2 teams “worry” me. My criteria for worry is we can lose playing our A game. Those teams are Michigan and Duke. Their A games go toe to toe with ours and could win. I don’t think anyone else beats our A game.

Too much man, overflex. This is the kind of stuff that tilts too hard. Everyone would be “concerned” / they’ve got a NC level front court and coach. And two talented guards that have improved, and running through teams.

As much as I “glaze” good teams which is just acknowledging, it’s this kinda stuff that is so far to the other side. We were just down by 8 to Seton Hall with 7 to go at home. Please have some humility. It’s bad juju.

They were a possession away from beating Duke at Cameron. Cant cherry pick what you want for your flexes.

I mean, worry is a relative term. If we play our A game, I'm satisfied with whatever happens so if I know we're playing our A game, I'm not technically worried at all.

But, teams can also make it tougher to play your A game, and you don't always play your A game, so Florida is one of a handful of teams that would give us a tough game, almost undoubtedly. I'd rather play Illinois again than Florida, personally.

Refs letting Purdue get away with all kinds of holds and grabs while Ohio State is trying to inbound

I’m not flexing. UConn can very much not perform well and lose to them.

Again the only teams who “concern” me are the ones who I think can take our best punch and stand in the middle of the ring with us. Michigan and Duke fit that bill for me. Not Florida.

This isn’t saying Florida couldn’t win. They’re a 2 seed. Of course they could win. But if we play our best they won’t.

A “rather” conversation is different. I like my chances against either. The 2 that would give us the most problems is Houston. They’re a souped up SH. And SH turned us over 16 times. Avoid that 2 seed if anyone. Florida doesn’t apply enough ball pressure to me to force us to play our worst

Don’t see that at all. Houston is not what we’ve seen the last few years. If you want to talk about quality wins, would love to see theirs. I think Florida would smack Houston. They’re very talented but uncohesive.

.-.
Now name the other times. They’re a inconsistent pairing.
Feb 11th on the road vs Georgia, how much further do you want to carry the goalposts? Do I have to list every single game before you want to admit that you were wrong when it's already been done?
