First of all, the lineup I proposed - Liv, Aubrey, Mir, Paige & Aaliyah - all scored bigly in high school, one of the reasons they were heavily recruited. Pls don't tell me that CW&MW are big-time scorers after their showing in the SC, Baylor & Oregon games, that ship has sailed.
I can clearly envision Griff & Mir et al defending out to the arc [and beyond] rendering the 3-point-shot moot, with Bill Russell [Liv] protecting the paint like Stewie did.
Offense will be large via numerous steals and traps resulting in transition baskets and our half-court game will be heavily augmented by pounding the glass with our quick leapers.
The PLAN: Score 60 points; hold the opposition to 40. Game over! :)

Anyone who enjoys uptempo basketball has Red Auerbach to thank. The Celtics' game revolved around defense and a fast break when the rest of the league had just transitioned out of set shots and offense was 90% half court. The Celtics' defense was designed to force guards down the middle where Russell was waiting. The bulk of their scoring came in transition. Their fast break got down the court before the defense had a chance to set up, again, much like UConn has done for years.

Next season, the Huskies have the tools to reprise the Celtics scheme with Bill Russell [Liv] and a slew of lockdown KC Joneses [most notably ultra athletic Griff&Mir] .. lookin' good!

Years ago Dean SMith used to put in a complete new 2nd team for a stretch and one year he was playing Indiana and Knight's team crushed the 2nd unit for however long Smith kept them in which cost NC the game. There is no way vs a decent team unless it's a blowout you would risk putting that lineup in with 3 frosh, 1 soph and 1 jr. There is an assumption "you would steal the ball." But when you press you can also get whooped by good passing teams with good guard play. There is no way you are going to keep your better players like Walker, CW AM and Westbrook all on the bench and risk this type of pressing team that would have a horrendous halfcourt set.

This lineup completely disregards fundamental offensive basketball and even what a triple threat is. You have one player on the team as a triple threat as of right now. SO Geno is going to cash in his offensive flow coaching style that he pushes so much and instead throw all of his chips in on 5 minutes of a predominant freshmen / soph pressing lineup?

You think Geno is just going to give up his attempt to have his team run an offensive flow - and play his lesser talented players so he can press? This is a proposal that someone would make (not just jingo) who has over-inflated view of defense vs minimal respect for offense. Walker was just projected a few weeks ago if she left to be 8th in the draft. Westbrook was a good player. Anna has outplayed AUbrey overall. Cwill's frosh year was superior to Aubrey's this year. All this is going to be dumped for 5 minutes of pressure rather than continually work on offensive flow? It won't happen.

Geno is looking for offensive flow. This lineup breaks the flow. Secondly, you aren't going to risk a game with most of your stars on the bench. Third, Kiss Azzii fudd and any terrific high school scorer's future commits goodbye with something like this. They'll say "If Geno isn;t going to stick with me - then I'm not going to risk going there and play behind someone that I know I'm better than." You can't use these South Florida games as a barometer and think a lineup with such limited offensive skill is going to work vs the better teams with good guards. Very good guard play should overall defeat an aggressive press. And I'm thankful Geno believes in 3pt shooting. This lineup would be extremely limited. There is no reason to intentionally limit the lineup.

You make a lot of good points. I am not suggesting that in every game Geno employ what I have said nor am I saying that should be "the lineup". I agree that star players would go elsewhere. I don't state that this is going to be the "New UConn style of play". While I enjoyed watching Rutgers stymie less talented teams with their press I agree, like Geno has stated, that good guards/passers can break any press. But there are a limited number of good guards in college and on many teams there is but one, who is going to expend a lot of energy defeating that press. Tired guards miss shots in the second half.
There are going to games next year when ONO picks up a second foul midway through the second period. With Westbrook, Bueckers and Griffin already on the court Geno can pull ONO and the 5th player and insert McClean and Edwards or Muhl and press/trap a team that is usually tired and likely to make mistakes that lead to easy transition baskets.
It isn't as if Geno hasn't done this before.

We'll be lucky to get a final list. Iriafen is very private when it comes to recruiting.

I have a similar feeling and to be honest with you I think I have Moore and Hollingshead "slightly" ahead of her as a big forward in this class because I see more polish in their games. Not for nothing but I also think Lattimore might be ahead of her as well. She the most athletic at the position no doubt but with DeBerry and ONO on the roster and Brady coming Kiki might fall into the category of needing too much work.

I haven't seen too much of Hollingshead but she strikes me as a rawer talent with big upside. Having watched Moore with the U17 team, I like her, but I like Iriafen more. Better athlete, quicker, more versatile. Moore might end up rock solid but Iriafen can be pretty special. Her Duncan-like post skills are rare.
 
At the end of tonight's game, (which Hopkins won and Bueckers had the worst shooting night I've seen her have), the announcer said that she had a slightly injured knee and that was why she sat out the last game.
She still got over 20 pts and 12+ assists, and all the other extras but it was NNagi who carried the scoring load.
Kramer for StMA can shoot incredibly well. Her 3's both tonight and in the first game hardly touched the net (ala Fudd) and she hit a couple of runners and scored on drives. And she has the peachiest cheeks I ever saw. ;)

Other than Paige, I really like Hopkins' player Taylor Woodson, only a freshman. I think she is going to be a very good player at the next level as well.

I think Geno has made the trek to Mn to see more than Bueckers. There are several, including freshman Agara and sophomores NNagi and Battle They will be good D1 players if they continue to develop.
