Everytime I open this thread I have to go back to check the score of the game again. The fanbase has evolved (devolved?) - we just finished a season 9-3 w/ a win on the road.

Years ago this group would be celebrating if they got a win via opposing team forfeit due to food poisoning. Back to back 9 win seasons. Could it have been prettier at times during the season - absafukinglutely but man, look where we came from.

It’s college football and against formidable odds - UConn is relevant again! Enjoy it.

I’m going to defend Brock a little here:

There is nothing inherently wrong with running a 3-3-5 as your base defense. If there was, Jim Mora would not be running it.

My biggest fear going in was replacing all that talent on D. We had a nice mix of guys who had developed here and some really nice additions in the portal. Hard to duplicate seeing that so many guys don’t turn out to be what you hoped.

Lastly think of what fans of teams we’ve played said about their DC after getting smoked by UConn and it’s unrecruited Maine QB.

Looking forward to a good bowl game

Not really. At a Jeff Dunham Show in Kissimmee with my wife & her uncle. Still checkin' score and sweatin' end of game.
Just because inquiring minds want to know, with your wife and her uncle or with your wife and her “uncle?”

Just kidding.

THISSS!!!!

And for the record, I would STILL take a victory due to opponent food poisoning...

I agree 100% with your assessment.

FIU actually won today, they're currently at 6-5. Going up against 2-9 Sam Houston next week, so good chance they get to 7 wins before bowl season. That will make 2, lol.
People continue this weak schedule foolishness. But look around. James Madison won 10 games in CUSA. Lost their only P4 game. Note they played one! Snuck by a dreadful Washinton State

I guess it's human nature that some expect perfection and can't fully stomach the wonderful offensive display our stars have given us just because the hole-y defense isn't up to snuff.

Have you watched college football before? I know you have, lol.

There is always room for improvement but I'm thrilled to fill my belly with a lot of touchdowns.
We'll be forever talking about Fagnano, Bell and Edwards. Comparing incomers to them. The highest praise.

And right now Tulane is expected to get into the CFP. Rightfully so since Tulane’s schedule was much harder than James Madison. Easily beat Duke and Northwestern. Lost to OL Miss a top 10 team.

Good point, beat Ga State(1-10 Sunbelt) 14-7 KILLED EM!

This team had a remarkable season. Joe F. and the offense had a record setting season. We may never again see numbers like Joe F. put up this season. To throw as frequently as we did and have only one INT is truly remarkable. The offense turned the ball over only TWICE ALL SEASON. The defense pieced together just enough to facilitate nine wins. Mora and staff deserve all the accolades that come their way.

Supposedly UConn FB is in the upper tier for G5 in both those categories. Are they gonna outbid P4 schools? Probably not, but Skyler Bell didn't choose to stay here for the cool merch.
How much do we have? It seems to be a closely guarded secret.

We can get these QBs to at least think about it. Skyler is a huge recruiting tool for this. Would rather get a starter from a G5 than a backup from a P4 anyways. It’s time to double the NIL btw.

Is that a sense of humor conflating with all the "serious work" we do on the BY.? Kinda nice the step out of the batter's box every now and then. Keeps us grounded.

When it went from 24-3 lead to 27-31 midway thru the 3rd I wasn't sure we'd be able to recover. Figured a monumental collapse from our defense would cost us another game. Fortunately, the greatest offensive trio UConn's ever seen, with help from Hansen (was awesome in the 2nd half) and Mel made huge necessary plays late in the game.
It really is an impressive feat for the offense to win 9 games with the defense we have.
This x1,000. This is a top 25 team with any semblance of even an average D.

Thank you, thank you, glad to see there are some on here who understand. As I said in the chat, Brock was a superstar last year, we were afraid we were going to lose him. He gets 10 new starters on D. Yes they clearly missed in the portal, the players are not the same caliber as last year. But now according to many on here, he is now a terrible coach and it has nothing to do with the personnel. I don't care if we got the best D coordinator in the NFL, he couldn't perform miracles with this D. I hope many on here are not alum, because I am shocked at the amount of haters and the personal attacks just because you don't agree. If you are UConn grads it is a disgrace that you act like that.
I'm not sure why you can't see nuance here.

The players were not up to the task yesterday, and at other points this season. The D line is not great, we struggle to tackle, we get beat up the gut and over the middle repeatedly.

But when the D gives up 700 yards, the responsibility ultimately rests with the DC for the performance of his unit.

No one is saying he's a terrible coach -- that's you creating a straw man. Are people wondering if he's the right guy for the job after his unit gave up 700 yards? Yes, of course they are!

Does anyone remember the year we were losing games 70-7 against schools like Boise State? Yesterday may have been bad but the season hasn't been like 2018 and the offense has been so good we still won 9 games..........better than 1.

We set FBS single season records in 2018 for:
Yards allowed per game: 617.4,
Total yards: 7409
Points allowed per game: 50.42 (almost there yesterday)
Total points: 605

Check this article to take a trip down a horrific memory lane:

I keep thinking "if we only had the right personnel" because I like the aggressive, attacking, style defense.
Maybe it's not a good defense, or maybe we don't have the money to hire the right kind of players for the defensive line, but I've always felt the SEC was so good because they had two or three Travis Jones level players on their lines every single year at most schools.........

I have heard that we deployed about $3.5M in NIL/Rev Share. Also many players appear to be getting leases of some nice vehicles.

They sighed quite a few defenders with that. It appears that many of them are misses. Even still, we give up yards in astonishing ways.

Next season I heard that UConn is fully funding Revenue share to $21M. I could be wrong but P4s are typically spending &14-15M on just football, plus other NIL deals.
