Ezi Magbegor In The News

I’m surprised that Aston didn’t see this coming even while recruiting her. The red lights were flashing all over.
Unfortunately in this case at least, Aston chose the "gather up talent, chemistry and attitude be d#@ned" approach. To Aston's credit few players see themselves as transcendental talents coming out of HS and are so embarrassed their first practice. I also predicted that once Holmes came off of suspension and onto the practice floor it would only get worse for her, since Holmes does just about everything better than Boothe. Plus Holmes has a better attitude.

If (when) Boothe leaves it's hard to see her playing for either Blair or Mulkey. TCU may be a good landing spot since they seem bereft of incoming.

Playing at UCONN is no guarantor of WNBA success either. Kelly Faris couldn't make the cut and Renee Montgomery has bounced around the league for years. Steph Dolson is more of a personality than an actual contributor for both of the teams she's played for, Tiffany Hayes has bounced around the league as well, even KML hasn't raised any hell in the league and I thought her game was better suited for the WNBA.

It would be churlish to call the remark quoted above, "Ignorant codswallop!"
so I'll just note that it is contrary to objective reality.

Or maybe ND where she can get the "sit out a year" waiver...

Are we ever going to get this thread back to being about Ezi???????? Head bang

yup and Chuck Muncie. A beautiful team to watch....So very, very sad about Joe Roth, who everyone apparently loved.
Watched on tv in San Diego. Spectacular college player, and really sad ending. Later Muncie played for the Chargers. Saw him there.

What? Are you joking?

Montgomery is a little past her prime now but averaged over 12pts/game her first 5 seasons.
Dolson averaged 15 and 6 this past year.
Hayes has averaged double digits the past 5 years and this past year she averaged 16, 4, and 2.

Until there's any real news about her commitment beyond us homer's speculating, why not go on tangents?

I think she would probably head back to FL if that were to happen.
Yeah. Florida is a nice, soft landing.

As you point pout, there are several ways to get into the WNBA. But over the last few years, the one sure way to get into the WNBA was to start for and graduate from UConn WBB. Heck, UConn even gets their reserves into the WNBA, i.e. Kiah Stokes.
And players that only start for one year.

With regards to Tiffany Hayes you know not of what you speak. Which makes me believe much of what you say is as incorrect.

Hope she comes just so I can watch the forum go thru the crazy speculation, over-the-top expectations, overwrought hand wringing, and endless second guessing over her and her fellow frosh.
NOT.

It’s not just about how many UConn players are in the WNBA. It’s also about how many are at the top of the WNBA. Look at the WNBA record holders, WNBA All-Stars, WNBA champions, FIBA World Cup teams, and Olympic teams. Names like Sue Bird, Swin Cash, Diana Taurasi, Tina Charles, Maya Moore, and Breanna Stewart show up time after time. Wanna be in that group? Geno can get you there.

In 6 years in the league Hayes has averaged 12.9 ppg and has never been a WNBA All-Star. In 15 postseason games she averaged 12 ppg. Hardly stellar numbers by any objective measure.

When you put 5 guys on the floor from UConn in the Olympic gold medal game, it just doesn’t get more impressive than that. And they may have been the best 5.

But lets get real here - what was your original post? You said that Tiffany Hayes jumped from team to team and never made an impact. Your claim was demonstrably false. So why don't you just admit that you were posting claims that were without merit and move on.

Stop trying to play the trolling game.

Which players from Ohio State are in the WNBA? I bet Uconn had more players drafted in one year than Ohio State has in the league now!

Stellar numbers? Maybe not, but damn solid numbers for sure, good enough to be in the Top 15 in scoring. You also stated "Hayes has bounced around the league as well" when she is still with the team that drafted her.

Boston is 85 miles away. One can’t find anything more interesting anywhere! That is a 75-minute drive on the weekend. Granted, Storrs is not Ann Arbor or Bloomington, but Detroit and Indianapolis pale in comparison. I realize college athletes can’t do that in season, but from April to September?! Envious already.
Suspect that Geno sells both Boston and NYC. Both world class but have to agree that Storrs offers less than most college towns (other than a strong University with many banners).
