Coco - You said, "I would point you in the direction that Triad is going which is that strict numbers comparison will not get at the right answer. Greenwell was required to do (and did) more for Duke last year than Kia did for UConn." That is absolutely correct and I was impressed with Greenwell's versatility. But you can't say that KIA would not have had the same ability/performances if she was thrown into the same predicament. This past summer proved that point. When she needed to take over--she took over against the best competition in the world--including Stewie & MO. Let's be fair and call it a wash as I originally said. They are in the same neighborhood. If Greenwell is on the list so should Nurse be on the list.
Final thought - maybe strict numbers will not get at the right answer, but it will give indications and evidence of performance on the big stage. Again, Nurse is right there.

Coach my original post explicitly stated that what Kia did over the summer was discounted in the making of this list. It was strickly based on what Kia did in NCAA play.
So if you are asking me which of the players would I pick right now it would be Kia all day long. Kia is poised to have an AA season at the SG spot with Tifffany Mitchell, Diamond, Kelsey Mitchell being her competition for 1st Team AA. Greenwell is not in that conversation. So again based only on play 2014-15 WCBB Greenwell had a better season than Nurse IMO. Could/should Nurse & Greenwell both be on the list? Yes they could be if someone else were drawing the line. But I could just as easily make the argument that both be off the list. Being in the same neighborhood is not a useful thing because you still have 25 finite slots. You have to draw the line somewhere and I am OK with were this line was drawn. I still think people are focusing on the wrong name ( Greenwell) if you want to get Kia on this list. Sydney Wiese -Oregon state and Walker-Kimbrough-MD both have weaker resumes than Greenwell IMO.

Well, I'm kind of surprised Courtney Walker from A&M wasn't on this list but I'm not sure who would be pushed down for her placement.

Exactly...I can't ever remember watching Kia Nurse play tired. Perhaps another point for Kia

Hmmm.... perhaps an extra 10 minutes per game for an entire season has something to do with that ?

1) UCONN with the #1,2, and 9
2) SC with the #4, 8 & 12
3) Baylor with the #3 & 22
4) ND with the #7 & 20
5) Ohio St with the #5
6) TN with the #6

That's probably about the way they'll end up this year too.

Alexis Jones will end up much higher than Niya Johnson. She will be in the top 10 at season's end.

Just curious, does defense count for anything on this list? Are most of these players better defenders that Kia? Or is this just about offense? In any event, these pre-season lists are nothing more than fodder for debate. I'm sure Ms. Nurse couldn't care less.

Defense counts for very little on these list. If defense counted for anything Kelsey Mitchell of OSU would not be on the list, that girl is alergic to defense. At the guard position the only better defender that Kia Nurse on this current list is her teammate Mo Jefferson. And forget about just this list that last statement might also be true for all of WCBB.

Baylor with #3 and 22? Davis and Johnson? And no Alexis Jones? She's definitely top 10 and she's the player I'd put at #3. Probably drop Davis down to about 9 just behind Wilson. Just my $.02. I think ETT would have a better sense of who the best player on their team is...
I guess Nurse showed up big time in Pan Am games, and in the first game and was pretty good, excellent for a Frosh, but not outstanding for a Jr or Sr is the reason she didn't show up in the top 20. I'm a bit insulted she did not supersede (note the word Gus?) the ND player at 20.

Lynx23---Suppose you are on the selection committee. You look at Nurse in comparison to KML, Stokes, Stewie, Jefferson, Tuck-LAST year not this year or the Pan Am's. How does she stack up. Not stack up as a FRESHMAN (Kib this is for you), but against the total competition.
I was/am a bit miffed that Nurse wasn't considered better than anyone from ND except Turner, but I understand where they are coming from.

Was hoping to see Kahleah Copper or Tyler Scaife get some recognition, since I believe both are going to have a great season. Great 1-2 punch for Rutgers.
I really like Scaife. She's a stud.

I suppose I should be asking this of Kibitzer ---but--as a horse, dog, animal person--I only know males as studs. is Scaife a man or a woman??

If you read my post, you saw that I refer to Tyler Scaife as a she so I assume you are continuing to take umbridge with terms you find unflattering to women. Calling an athlete a stud is a compliment, in sporting terms, and I'm sure Cole is aware of it, as would be Tyler if she ever saw my post.

First, with out argument, I never said or implied I had taken "umbridge" of your term STUD. What I was questioning the use of a male animal which is used for breeding purposed, why is that applied to a female, as a question not a comment. Meg Pattyson Culmo had used that term often towards WBB players, in more recent times I have not heard her use it- I was never impressed with Megs language skills.. No "umbridge" here. Just why? Why isn't just being a great hard playing FEMALE player term enough for a Woman player?? No offense given or taken.

Stud shorter than "hard playing FEMALE player"- roll with it!

At year yearend, Diamond #1.
That is a good possibility but far from given. DD health will largely determine it plus there are two (Davis-Baylor & Mitchell-OSU) underclassmen ahead of her that will be leading top 5 Teams next year.
If Lady Vols don't sign a top tier post player for 2016 class I don't see them being a top 5 team next year like Baylor and OSU are almost guaranteed to be.

It's the mental image I have of stud bulls, stud horses after the "act". Not pleasing to think of Women looking so be draggled while performing as STUDS. Hard playing is sufficient and says it all. I suppose if you are not familiar with REAL studs --you may make any word work for you, no matter how unpleasant.

I suppose all those women who worked so hard for recognition and equality are now really ROLLING, in their graves.

If they are rolling in their graves for this reason it is not a very good one is it?

It works for me. Not unpleasant at all. I think your mental image maybe the problem- your image has nothing to do with what we are talking about.

I though we had reached consensus on this before she put up these numbers. You could probably slide her in right now any where on the list besides #1 or #2.
