I think it's easy for UConn fans tend to dislike volume shooters since their teams rarely have a single player dominate the ball. Arike, Kelsey Mitchell, Chennedy have all received a little flack on this board about being too focused on shooting the ball and not enough on efficiency. I get it. However, I've said in the case of Mitchell and Chennedy that OSU and A&M don't win if they don't shoot the ball. Carter played very well in the tournament last year and it sounds as though she had a good game against the national team. A&M will need to have another player or two step up for them to be in the company with other top teams but Carter is a terrific player.

Probably add Plum to this list?

Mmm, that's by design. UConn players are taught to look for the best shot. So it's less an issue of shot volume than shot quality, thus the focus on efficiency.

The disrespect that everyone seems to be giving Onyenwere. She's easily better than Walker and Westbrook.
...at THIS point in their respective careers. Megan will have a better Junior year than Onyenwere on a team that will achieve more. Onyenwere was awesome in last year's NCAAT as I saw twice in person. Now let's see how she does as the focus of every teams defense. She is still a top 5 talent in this class but is also coached (or not coached) by Cori Close.

She was the focus of every team’s defense last year as well. Did pretty well. Would love to see her shooting it at a higher clip this season from the field.

Onyenwere has 3-9, 4 rebs, 1 ast, 3 pfs and 8 pts total against Loyola yesterday. At this moment I don't see she is easily better than Walker and Westbrook.

A few observations:
  1. Just a reminder this is a UConn board and we tend to like our players more than others. I’m stunned that you’re stunned that this is so. Objectivity (your view of objectivity) isn’t a requirement here.
  2. Don’t lecture us on our perceived lack of objectivity. See #1 above, then check the board rules which are in a thread tacked to the top of the board
  3. Remember why the General Basketball board was set up - see #1 above.
