Eric Reibe to play in Nike Hoop Summit game tonight

You could make a crazy compilation of every time he’s been ignored tonight, boozer just played him from the paint while he was in the corner

You could tell he forced that post fade out of frustration

They really just don’t pass to the open shooter in these games. So many reibe look offs this half.

Edit: I’m starting to think his teammates don’t like him. That or they’re incredibly selfish.
That Guard from Nigeria didn't pass it to him or any of his teammates. He was a ball hog.

Earlier this evening, during the women's Nike game, they showed Donovan Clingan at the game, sitting in the stands.

The announcers said that Hurley was there as well, but they didn't show him at that time.
Hurley was there with Smith visiting?

Where did you see he's 250? That's pretty solid and a good base to work with to get stronger.

The recruiting services usually have the weights from last summer, or earlier, and the 4 of them have him anywhere between 215 and 235. Good chance he's gained weight since then.

He was 6'11 3/4 and 247 I believe. 7'1 wingy. Weighed a couple days ago for this event.

I thought he had a decent game. Couple of putbacks, couple of lobs, made one of two from the line, in a mostly one-on-one game. Had a handful of defensive rebounds, mostly in the right positions, he blocked the lane fairly well. Had trouble with Boozer (everyone will).

One thing I really liked is that he boxed out on the defensive board. He seems to move okay. Active. A number of times, he got wide open on the arc and his teammates never got him the ball.

He is NOT a project. He will get minutes from day one. BTW, his name is pronounced rye-b.

That's what the announcer said. Now, I didn't watch every minute of both games, so the cameras may have shown Hurley when I wasn't watching. But when I was watching, they didn't show him. So it's possible that the announcer was mistaken. Or else Hurley was there for a portion of Smith's visit, and then flew out later, leaving Kimani and Luke to handle the rest of the visit.

Agree 100% he is too big and versatile to sit on the bench… he’s Karaban 2.0 in that respect.

He's 250. He's a high school senior so will need to get stronger but I doubt he'll ever play at much more than 250. He's going to be a stud.
Thanks. Having a dominant center has been pivotal for our last two NC's. My spring and summer will go a lot better. Hope he gets to campus early with the other freshmen and team leaders. They have their work cut out for them. Year round men's BB!

So, just to get back to what Reibe did in this game: he finished with 13 points on 71% shooting (3rd best in the game) and 8 boards in 25 minutes. He had the 5th highest FIC (floor impact counter) stat in the game. Not bad against a loaded US team.
His defense will be the only thing that keeps him from seeing serious minutes this season. Hopefully a summer in the School of Dan Hurley will get him ready for November.

While also being ignored by his teammates all game.

That is exactly right. He was involved in the offense very little. On both his lobs he was wide open and he was open a lot more than that. He was also wide open on the arc, sometime with no one within yards and they never passed to him. And there was virtually no effort made to get him the ball down low.

Defense without fouling. The "emergency center" is going to get plenty of playing time. That Reibe can play as a 4 would help PT in the event they fail to collect fouls.

I’m looking forward to us swinging him the rock when he’s open at the arc. He seems really confident in his shot.

Just hoping he'll be good enough in year 1 to provide decent minutes backing up Tarris.

Still need an 8-15 minute big body 5 for obvious reasons. Can’t hope he can back up especially when he looks and plays more like a 4. Need him to occasionally be the 5 when you play smaller but not automatically that guy every time Reed gets 2 quick ones. They just finalized a brilliant backcourt with Smith now lets grab a big!

Reibe is going to be a match-up nightmare for opponents on the offensive end. But until Reibe gains the necessary strength down low, he is going to often be a match-up nightmare for UConn on the defensive end.

Dan Hurley is going to want the flexibility to pick his spots.
