Entering the portal - 2026

I think both our starting Gs being hobbled and in foul trouble had a part in that…though I don’t disagree with the sentiment for next year.
It’s a part, but let’s not fool ourselves into thinking we take people off the dribble with any regularity. We really miss having a guy who can just take the ball and be a triple threat. This was seen over and over again in late clock or end of half situations.

I agree completely.

I was begging Silas to blow by a hobbled or much slower player and he just wouldn’t.

How many guys do we think we are adding?
It's all a guess - stay patient and see what the UConn kids do this week, then picture becomes clearer. Too many moving parts. We know we need a starting 4 that isn't a 6'6" freshman. Hurley just went up against a big, physical team and lost and called them the best team in the country. I'd have to think he takes that into account as he builds a new team.

Landrew, who has never played a second of college basketball, is better than Stew, Ross, and Mullins?
I'll rephrase it. The senior version of Ross, senior version of Stewart plus Landrew is better than the junior version of Ross the junior version of Stewart and Mullins.

Last night really showed how badly we need some guys who can score off the dribble. Our entire offense was essentially 3pt dependent and we didn’t have many wrinkles to take advantage of their switching or have anyone who could get in the lane and make things happen.
That's what Newton could do....if our set was completely blown up and everything broken down, he could still create something on his own and get off a shot. I thought Demary could be very similar, but he didn't quite show those qualities. I'm hoping next season he can take the next step like Newton did his 2nd year and become that guy.

. We certainly need a capable backup to him or if Hurley thinks he's not ready, a starter.
Covering all your bases here re Reibe. I said a transfer C that can play 20mpg that means can either split time as a backup or starter.
Backup PG, starting wing, very good C at a minimum. TBD on the rest depending on what else happens
What about starting PF? Or did you mean giant wing?

.-.
Anyone see that quote from Silas after the game alluding to a tough decision he has to make?

Mustapha Thiam and Bryson Tiller would be a good front court imo

Big and versatile

Probably won’t happen

Not sure his skillset really fits any more
I like him more than most, but the point I am making is that it's not realistic to expect a top center portal add with a McDonald's All-American 19 yr old center already here

No, but I definitely expect him to test the draft (which he actually did last offseason while simultaneously committing to UConn). It wouldn't shock me at all if he's gone.

Ross was a PG who grew to 6’7” so had to learn the wing but likely can reliably dribble…if he creates off the dribble he obtains the lofty 3 level scorer and plus defender attributes

Sorry he’s ok with the ball but not trusting him at all in the 1 or 2 in pressure defenses. He’s a great 6th man who will get a chance to try for a 3-4 role but we’re better off finding really high impact guys there. Like him a lot but as I said this is just like Diarra. Make him a starter you lose in the long run.

Yeah that's what I meant by wing. Prefer a 4 but if there's a really good fit who's a 3 I would be fine starting that guy next to Ross/Landrew/Stewart. Ideally it's a 4 though and I think that guy will be out there

We added Reed with Samson. We added Clingan with Sanogo. We will add another top-tier big in the portal.

Whether or not Reibe was an All-American is currently meaningless. If we head into next season with him penciled as a starting center, something has gone very wrong. We need a starting-caliber big to push Reibe and the best man will win out. Two-headed monster. And frankly, Reibe has A LOT of work to do to be a 15-20mpg player at this point.

As Cal likes to do, makes room for all his OAD's, even if it means pushing out a kid that has stuck with him, relegated to bench, for 3 years. A kid like Wagner likely could have been nurtured into a floor leader over time - not a spectacular player, but a general. Wonder what he's doing with Meleek - last I saw, he was doing his best to get him into the first round.
But he says he’s worried about how are they all gonna graduate. I don’t know how he keeps a straight face when he peddles his crap.

Does Reibe follow Coach Murray to BC ?

Is he referring to the portal or the draft though? I've seen him as a 2nd round guy in some mocks

Believe he is speaking about just the NBA Draft
He wasn't specific so who knows for sure unless you have more information. I believe that his family moved to CT so you never know what their plans are either. This is the part of the season that I hate. Every time I see a new post on transfers, I get more anxious. A wise man would just stay away but that wise man is not me.

Know what you mean. When I heard they were opening the portal and 12:01 I think they knew fans. Uconn bb is a year round sport. BY fantasy reaches epic heights during this season.
