Entering the portal - 2026

In another week. Can start playing the what if game. Portaling. Not hard to see that we will be strong at the wing/SF position and the outside chance that Braylon returns. The 4 spot will need to facilitate as a rebounder to help Reibe/transfer at the 5. Unless Dan retools and goes to a four and out scheme. Doubtful. A smaller PF who isn't banging on the boards is a problem. Karaban was a unique PF who brought other skills to the table.

.-.
He is going to lsu
Why so sure? A NC kid that was targeting his families alma mater is going to follow a swashbuckling coach to Louisiana? I'm saying he's not going to LSU. He wouldn't have opened his recruitment back up and portaled if it was that easy. I think he either stays at NC St depending on coach or goes to UNC depending on coach.

Hurley wins this one, I can see him being more open minded to bringing a frosh into the 4 next year.

Braylon is staying, will be top 5 next year
We would need 1-2 big time additions to be a true top 5 team.

Demary, Ball, Mullins, TBD, Reibe is not a top 5 team in my opinion.

Maybe if the Karaban replacement is a top 3 PF in the country and we can also acquire a strong backup C, and a playmaking guard/wing (and retain Ross/Stewart) then I can see top 5.

Obviously that is a lot to ask for, but a lot of these other teams will be stacked too.

Dont need wings!!!

How do you figure? You putting all of your eggs into a Landrew, Ross, Furphy, Stew collective is an easy way to wish he had someone who has actually produced.

We certainly do especially if Braylon doesn’t return. Landrew looks real good but he’s a freshman, never know!
Explain the math. We might be losing one freshman wing, to be replaced by another freshman wing, who could be a better fit. On top of that all of our other wings are a year older. Ross, Furphy, Ball, Stewart, Landrew all can play the 3. What quality wing wants to step into that.

What do you think we did this year? Its the exact same lineup. Landrew is probably a better fit as he can shoot hte 3 and has the power to actually finish at the rim. Landrew is the guy Hurley wanted over everyone. How is this wing situataion different from last year. AND we may retain Mullins. We need dudes who can handle the ball, penetrate and create. As well as bigs. Not wings.

I thought wings were one of the early sources of mojo.
We have a s*it ton of wings. We only have one big and one pg. We brought in 4 pgs this year and we are losing 2 of them and we are losing our 2 bigs. Point guards and bigs. Not wings. Y'all are horrible GMs.

On the road again - Cooley seeing the floodgates open. Our guy is taking the AJ Storr path it appears.

Let me explain my viewpoint, it’s simple. Tell me what proof on any of Ross, Stew, Landrew or Furphy (not a wing), Ball (not a wing) we have of definite impact?? I’m waiting for the numbers. I mean I’m not being a dlck it’s a fact.

Abraham enters the portal after a year at Georgetown. I say it every time. I’ve never missed a single guy who’s transferred out of here.

Can we think of anyone that transferred out of here that amounted to anything?

Right, Mullins. Up and down as he was, Mullins is much better than any of those four prospective returnees and was our starting 3.

I’d be very wary assuming Landrew can immediately be your guy, if Furphy possesses the athleticism for this level, or the three year refrain kd Ross and Stew “making the jump.” Literally four questions marks when there could be a plug and play starting wing out there.

"Anything" is pretty broad. Some guys had decent careers at other places. But that we missed or needed them to stay? I can't think of a single one.

Was impactful in a tournament win/run? Like I don't consider Diggins a success at UMass, at all. Gaffney came off the bench for that FAU team I believe, doesn't really count.

Alleyne bought Pitino's BS and ended up coming off the bench at St John's.
