Elite 8 Sunday games

Both teams playing like they’re scared of going to Houston. We would steamroll either team right now, so who cares who wins.

SDSU has turned this game into a grinding rock fight, and it is really hard to score when the defenders can bump and grab without penalty. Many other officiating crews would have both teams in the bonus by now. Calling the game this way really helps SDSU, because Creighton just doesn't play that style.

If we were to play SDSU we'd need to give Karaban some defensive help. He hasn't been out-muscled in a while, but I could see his youth being an issue against these older/stronger players from SDSU

SDSU's perimeter defense is TOUGH. Very physical, very active, and they do great moving their bodies without fouling

Unfortunately for them, Trey Alexander is a tough shot taker and a tough shot maker

Maybe they are having a bad game, but this San Diego State team just doesn't scare me at all. I don't see how they score enough to keep up with UConn. I have seen Creighton score enough to beat us though. So the choice is clear to me.

I want nothing to do with this SDSU team. They know just how far they can push the physicality with the officials, and it is incredibly difficult for Creighton to get any decent looks.

With all the bricks they lay, we should be able to get out in transition with Ajax puahing the ball before their defense can set up.

What has happened to Kaluma this year? Every time he catches it he’s a turnover waiting to happen. I thought he’d be a lotto pick before the season.

On the post ups, SDSU is putting two hands on Kalkbrenner to push him out. That should be an automatic foul, but SDSU knows the refs are letting a lot go so they are getting very physical with Kalkbrenner off the ball. Off the ball, they always have a hand on the player they are defending to restrict movement. Again, that should be an automatic foul, but the refs are letting it go so SDSU has been doing it most of the game.

This isn't cheating, it is just playing smart defense based on what the refs are giving them.

He needs to work on his handle. Any possession where has to dribble more than 3-4 times is a win for the defense as it usually results in a turnover or a bad shot

I'm seeing lots of talk about who people would rather have playing against UConn in the championship. Unbelievably bad mojo, we are either playing a road game against #5 ranked Texas, or playing the guys that ran Indiana and Houston off the floor in consecutive games

One game at a time. The earliest time anybody should talk about who we want to play on Monday is after our game next weekend. Let's enjoy this disgusting offensively challenged rock fight for what it is

SDSU wouldn’t seem to be able to compete with us. We know Creighton can and will. The choice is obvious. Says a lot about Karaban that he’s pulling for Creighton. He’s being a man about it.

Jay Wright compared SDSU to Providence at halftime, but Providence does a lot of stupid clutching and grabbing that only works with the biggest homer refs. SDSU is turning the physicality up and down based on what the refs are giving them. That is really impressive.

Creighton recognized the three isn't falling so they attack the rim, draw the help, and dump it down to Kalkbrenner for back to back open layups

SDSU isn't scared of the giant and they are attacking the paint, either with Kalkbrenner on the weak side or driving it right into his face

THIS IS GETTING FUN

Is sdsu is this bad shooting the ball? I think they might be worse than arkansas

If Alexander's shot was on the rims used in the Maui Invitational it would have gone in. That Invitational has the softest rims

Wow intense game. I am so glad UConn has not had a game like this, .. yet I would lose mind like these two fan bases probably are

Teams should always foul when down in the last minute if it is not the double bonus. Not every coach looks at it that way though.
