Nate Oates should learn to coach defense. I hope Scheyer has to play Sampson in the Final Four. I want to see how he responds vs. mastermind coaching.
Nate Oats=Mike Dantoni

This board sounds like the Duke board from last year with Duke fans hoping like all hell that someone would defeat UConn and sounding resigned after UConn crushed Illinois.
Haha true, gotta hand it to Duke though they are a machine this year

Scheyer is just another calipari. Even calipari got one with some crazy good freshman
Guy is in his 3rd year as a coach and heading to the Final Four as the favorite to win the title, with another 30 years ahead of him unless he entertains the NBA, he seems to be doing ok to me.

When you down water like that it’s never a good sign and Oats was doing it earlier.

I was wondering why they pronounce the K in Knueppel. I don't think I ever heard the K pronounced in a word that starts with Kn. Then I realized if it was pronounced the way it should be it would be pronounced nipple

Auburn might be the only team that can beat Duke but need the Auburn team we have seen most of the season.
I think this Duke team will handle Florida or Auburn fairly easily. Tenn/Houston might be able to slow it down and muck it up enough to make it interesting. Houston specifically has a kid like Tuggler that can probably handle Flagg as good as anyone. I just don’t know how Houston’s little shooters will get clean looks from three. Duke is so big all over the floor, and so versatile defensively. Duke has Maluach playing Sears at the three point line much of the game. Scheyer has built a perfect roster, it’s not just about Flagg.

Boring game. Five minutes in to the game and it was obvious Duke has size and speed to come over the top and cover the roll to the rim. Bama never adjusted. They hoped law of averaged would even out the game.

Not one of Oats' better in game coaching games.

Was the thing with Bama all year - they are one mode. When you shove a strategy at them that mucks them up, they have a hard time finding an alternative option.

Bama was a final four team last year and arguably got better this year. They were atrocious tonight, I will give Dook credit that they’re good, but I have a hard time believing a team full of freshmen are that good. Bama couldn’t make a shot in the ocean

Maluach was very tough on Alabama shooters. They couldn't even make a layup. Like DC from the previous two NC teams.

Same blueprints in many ways - I lost count how many times Bama penetrated the lane and did an about face, which allowed Dukes perimeter defenders to sit out by the 3 point line, so there were no free kick outs. Bama lives for the kick outs. Dukes defense is 100% the reason. Many times they sent Maluach high to defend the 3 point line and left Flagg back to guard the rim. The defensive versatility is unreal.

This Duke team is even better than I thought and I thought they were very good. Their offense has improved significantly. The shots Bama made were twice as hard as the those Duke did. It will be interesting to see if Oates makes any strategic adjustments in future years because it’s now pretty clear that if they run into a rim protector that diffuses the penetrate and kick, the system doesn’t work.

Sears is a very good player but it just shows you how size can be limiting. Duke piled up a bunch of 5 stars with Cooper Flagg the #1 NBA pick but they defend and drive dish for easy jams. Who has the defense to beat them?

100% - he was totally neutralized by size. Clayton would be as well.

Duke will play one of the two defenses that could challenge them in the F4. The two teams on the other side have zero chance of beating them.

The teams remaining are the #1, 3, 5, 8, and 10 defenses (with Duke at 4), so everyone

Sears is listed at 6’1”. No way. Clayton is 6’ 3”. And Clayton is better than Sears.

Dukes perimeter is all 6’5” to 6’7” and long. Clayton at 6’3 is generous.

I think Duke would smoke Florida. They’re bigger and better at every position, and have depth. Final 4 is the Duke invitational with exception of maybe a team like Houston/Tenn that can shorten game and muck it up.

I will be rooting for Houston to meet Duke. They can muck it up and the game being in San Antonio should give Houston an edge.

I understand how the big publics like Penn State, Michigan, Michigan State, etc. have tons of alumni in these major cities to fill up sporting events like this but, considering Duke is pumping out a small fraction of the number of graduates, I’ve got to believe a major chunk of these people in Jersey are bandwagonners. Case in point is my college friend (we did NOT go to Duke) who loves them because “Coach K did things the right way” (yes I have to work hard to restrain my laughter every time I hear it too).

Tennessee has 6 points in the first 11 minutes, that's not very good.
