Edsall's Salary Embarrassingly Low

If Randy's team wins a bowl game this year and next, maybe he can open a restaurant like Geno. That should up his take-home pay.

He's still collecting from Maryland so I'm imagining he's not living near the college coach poverty line. I think he gets 4.7 Million (2.1 this season and 2.6 for the remainder). I suspect afthere is a handshake that they will move him up to $2MM in year 3 if he has restored the program.

Isn’t also 1million +a car and housing allowance and other incentives?

No, its not the most important issue of the day but I don't like UConn showing up at the bottom of the AAC when any lists are published, be they wins, points scored, defensive ranking, attendance --or coach's salaries. Call me crazy but perception is reality. and we need all the help we can muster.

o.k. You're crazy.

Feel better?

If he builds this FB program up for a second time, he should be fairly compensated. I hope we have the money.

.-.
The determination of what fair compensation might be is between Edsall and UConn. He surely isn't panhandling between downs.

The AAC is never going to be anything other than what it is now. Love it or leave it. It is what it is.
No argument this forum is nothing but opinions occasionally a fact or two :). As for the AAC being nothing more than it is now, I remember reading this several times the last couple of years. With three teams in the top 25 eight games into the season, I think progress is being made. ;)

Nos, you have to take what they used to call a chill pill. Not sure of what the modern meds are. Maybe a therapy Husky Dog...:D No coach gets fired after seven games nor do they get a raise. These numbers were available at the start of the season just as they are now and nobody cared especially the only one that counts....Randy.

If you have missed it Randy is a totally opposite of his first tour here. All his points of contention with the previous go round are the opposite now. He is a happy camper and it shows in just how different he speaks on every topic addressed.
Money = Randy was happy with his wage the first time around but wanted more to keep assistants. He is happy why should you not be?
AD = He loves Dave.....I'll leave it at that.........
Assistants = Randy now has more assistants than a state run day care.
How much is enough? Randy brought coach Richardson back who had taken a year off, must have been comfortable. Brings in the likes of Rett at a discount price, should we be embarrassed? I say not, reality is for those living in the moment as they actually exist. Perception is simply the opinion of others, this giving them a story or another thing to worry about. ;)

UCF and USF have good teams. The last coach left the players at USF and Frost will be gone soon. It’s not like Houston has kept things up post Hermann.

The league is also home to a whole bunch of bad teams too.

It’s the best of the G5 leagues but that is all it’s ever going to be. It ain’t gonna change.

Sweating the leagues place in the world is a collosal waste of time and energy.

It sounds like RE took whatever he could from UCONN because no one else would hire him.

I'm my own boss, semi-grossly overpaid and I wish every day that I could sustain my life handing out free samples at Costco.

I couldn't give a what the National perception of our program is based on Head Coach Randy Edsall's salary.

I was leading the charge for never letting a deserter back in the fold but I've done a complete 180.

My point is, I envy the man. He found his comfort zone and realized he had to come home to be happy. Yes, he's making less money. But, he's happy and doing what he loves, where he loves and he's not crying poverty.

I'd sign up for that in a minute. If I had the balls.

.-.
I am glad he is here and have hope for the future, unlike how I felt last year at this time.

That's what I was trying to say.

It' the comfort of maturity and accepting your lot in life.

First time around, RE viewed this as a job to possibly land a better job.
I think he' here now because he realized that he liked the school, the culture, and he was happy here. And the fact that Uconn was willing to take him back in this scenario helped a bit too.

HCRE is not here for the money, but his program he built from nothing to a BCS game program.

HCRE is here because he wants to be a head coach and no other D-1 team would hire him, period. And that's fine, why do people need it to be more?

.-.
We have more important things to worry about than HCRE's salary: Selling out the RENT, hope for a seat at the table with future P-5 realignment, fate of the next AAC television contract among them.

I long for a day when UConn football is relevant enough to again warrant the following:
-re-installation of the 4,000 capacity temporary seating as a bridge to RENT expansion to its 50-55,000 design due to sellouts & ticket demand.
-Major P-5 teams willing to visit the RENT instead of demanding 1 & dones a la Clemson
-Not having to contract out home games (e.g. Thunderchicken U.) in order to pay the bills

If HCRE can get us there:
-I'll be a happy Camper
-He will be reimbursed accordingly

Of all the people I think of who are underpaid: Teachers, firemen, EMTs, Nurses, various IT related jobs, cops (the ones who do their job properly any way), etc. A football coach is basically the last thing that comes to mind. The aforementioned add lasting value to a persons life and, heck, save them too! A million dollars to coach a game for a coach who adds no real value to the lives of the fans watching....Ya, he gets paid just fine. IMO, it speaks to a countries values and priorities when we spend more time pointing out underpaid players or coaches than we do pointing out other professions that are even more grossly underpaid.

Why do people think RE is happy with what he go? When you only have one offer, you take it. You can be happy or unhappy that what your one offer pays is not on par with others at your pay grade.

Was that really Edsall's situation though?

You take what you are offered, not if it is the only offer, but if it is the only alternative.

Theoretically, Edsall was still gainfully employed by the Lions when he was re-hired, plus he had his Maryland buyout.

The length that some will go to, just to smear the head coach, is pretty disgusting.

You can't possibly know that nobody else would have hired him. You're talking about him like he's Art Briles. It's petty and childish.

With Edsall I don't think it's as much about the salary(for now anyways) as it is about getting a chance to right a wrong, about his legacy and about coming back to finish something he started a long time ago. He brought UConn football to the gates of the promised land but then left before they actually got there. Now it's time to rebuild the program and make it a national power. The appropriate compensation will come then.

I disagree with you on no team would hire him, but to each his own.

Edsall could get hired in 30 seconds in the MAC. Doesn’t pay a million but he could morph into Frank Solich Jr in about 18 months.
