Somebody help make this make sense for me. Based on the clip on the last page, it seems like he’s publicly saying that he’s considering leaving PC? And that’s it???

Why on earth would he say that? That is 1000% something you keep to yourself as long as it takes to get a deal done, wherever they may be. But he’s taking media interviews saying that??

What am I missing here?
Because he's a liar and egomaniac. He wants it all...all the money, all the attention, and for people to still know he's a good guy.

Congrats to him, he's now the most overpaid guy in all of sports and people in his hometown hate him. Money is nice but be careful what you wish for.

I admittedly am not too in the trenches of Cooley’s life, but he’s come off as a very agreeable guy. This is…..something else. Publicly disrespecting the fanbase

Cooley has been reading his press clippings. Guy hasn’t won jack, and if he goes to Georgetown and doesn’t perform, will get his ass fired.

What health issue could possibly be impacted by the move? He’s completely disingenuous. I’m thinking you should be thankful he’s gone. Time to move on. If he wants the Georgetown job just say that and stop these silly games.

Pitino, Barnes, Gillen, Cooley. PC hasn’t had problems replacing coaches for the most part. Keeping them is a different story.

Perhaps the lights are not bright enough in Little Rhody. Obviously it’s no longer about the money.

Wants a chance to be more than a guy who sometimes makes the NCAA tournament. The rest of the handwringing is just that he’s part politician (like every D1 head coach) and he PC fans were too naive to understand that.

Georgetown is desperate. Cooley is mediocre. They can have him. Oh Lord will Rhode Island hate him.
Cooley’s not the guy for Georgetown. They need a dynamic DH type coach.

I love the anonymity of these message boards. Ed Cooley is a guy’s guy. He’s very personable, enagaging and fun to be around. I understand that he’s handled this situation poorly. Perhaps he’s lost a bit of his humility now that he’s making $4M per year. Maybe it gets worse if/when he goes to Georgetown. I’d probably be disappointed if I was a PC fan.

But let the man live. None of us know what he’s going through. Don’t begrudge him for making a living. When he coached at Fairfield, he lived in my town, supported the community and was loved by all who knew him. Everyone needs to chill.
