So 2 questions …
1. Who do we compare him to?
2. Upside potential could be similar to ?

Is he like a Sterling Gibbs with upside potential of poor man’s Jalen Adams?

I haven’t watched much film, curious to know your take ..
1) There's not a ton of 6'5" point guards. Closest UConn comp... Tate George maybe? Probably one level worse athlete. Both 6'5" and they make similar two hand overhand passes over the defense.
2) Upside is Tyrese Haliburton, but he'd have to seriously up his shooting. I think he definitely has NBA potential (he has the size and the vision), but consistent shooting (FT is great, just 3pt) is what is needed. And to show what he can do with more talented players around him. To clarify, he's not a non-shooter, but to use your example he's more of a Jalen Adams' level shooter right now. Actually his junior year stats were pretty similar to Jalen Adams', except he finished a bit better in the paint and drew a lot of fouls instead of no fouls (but a little higher turnover rate). They don't really play alike though.

First of all, I am not the one who said the guy leaving was an A 10 level guy. This was quoted by many on the board. So now we get a guy who started for a team that goes 6 and 11 in the AAC...OK...I guess I am not seeing this as a huge upgrade. So dislike away. Not like some posters who went to the Boneyard powers to file a grievance.

Even if he does commit on the visit, the likelihood of an announcement is low. He'd probably going to have someone make an edit for his social media and announce in a few days.

In the meantime, we'll have a meltdown on this board and continue to look like a bunch of dunces.

I remember when Ralph Sampson got his college point guard from UMaine and made the Final Four.

Steph Curry’s junior year Davidson team lost in the 2nd round of the NIT. What a bum right? Couldn’t even win the Southern conference

Fleming's is so over-priced and the food is not spectacular. It will impress a college kid though, so I'll take that. Went to the one in WH and Providence...done with it. J. Gilbert's only.

In reality, the only difference is the atmosphere and then your personal experience. Yes, you could have had a poorly cooked steak or bad meal. But the quality of food is as high at flemings as it as at J Gilberts, or Ruth’s Chris, or Del Frisco’s. You can’t go higher quality than USDA Prime beef, unless you jump into wagyu.

This is why hospitality in high class establishments is of the upmost importance. The quality of food is usually similar.

Newton is considered a top 10 player in the portal and one of the top guards. He has played big mins for 3 years at ECU in the AAC conference which is not a cupcake league, as UConn knows from experience. He is a major upgrade over Gaffney who barely saw the floor this year becasue he couldn't capably play the position. Who knows what Diggins may become but he's clearly not ready to run a team.

We had to replace Cole and Newton is clearly capable to play PG competently for UConn so if he signs we can breathe a huge sigh of relief.
