2026 Recruiting: Dylan Mingo Official Visit this weekend!

Can this be merged into the recruiting thread. I didn't noticB4.

No. That thread is six weeks old.

If there is new info on any individual recruit, it deserves its own thread if the newest thread is three+ weeks old.

Dylan Mingo comes in at No. 6 overall, but could have more runway in front of him to keep rising. He's a full year young for his grade, has a 6-foot-10 wingspan, and is evolving into a big lead guard after averaging 18 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals per game in the EYBL season.

I didn't know he was that young.

I had forgotten that his brother committed to Penn State. Maybe Dylan will want to stay relatively close to home, too, so his family can get to games more easily. Remember when things like that used to matter in recruiting?
Can we get a home-and-home with Penn State starting next year?

5-star PG Dylan Mingo visiting UConn

Dylan Mingo, Rivals’ No. 3 overall player in the 2026 class, has been somewhat quiet with his recruiting visits. To this point in his process, he has not publicly announced any of them until the week of the trip. So far, the 6-foot-5 point guard has taken a visit to Washington and Miami. Earlier this week, On3’s Joe Tipton announced that Mingo will be visiting UConn this weekend.

Mingo does not have a public visit schedule yet.

Talking with some sources around the recruitment, UConn is one of the schools that is consistently mentioned to me. Some of the other programs I hear include Baylor, Oklahoma, Alabama, and UNC. Mingo also has an older brother (Kayden Mingo) who will start his freshman season at Penn State this season. While Mingo is keeping things close to the vest, I am told this UConn visit is one worth paying attention to, and see if the Huskies can set the pace this weekend. One source told me recently they do expect Mingo to decide for the early signing period, but that source also suggested they expect the choice to come closer to the November date.

Like them or hate them, Sleepers is all in on Mingo has no business going anyplace but UConn. They think Dan and crew will hit it out of the park with this visit and Mingo will commit sooner rather than later. No info. Just their gut, but nice to hear.

That was quite the slathering of both Hurley and Mingo. He sure convinced me.

Not sure how plugged in they are with sources, but they have to be to some extent I would imagine.

If they've been paying attention to UConn's recruiting the last couple years it's easy to understand that when this staff really wants a recruit they almost always get him. There's probably a reason Mingo is the first fall visit. Hopefully he's so blown away this weekend that he doesn't take any more visits.

The best take in that video is that we wouldn't think twice about benching senior Demary for Mingo.

I know Mingo is a borderline top 5 recruit, but I think he's underrating how good a senior Demary should be. Think they'd start together anyways.

Can they play together like Newton and Castle, leaning more towards two point guards?

An underrated reason why I love big lead guards:

It allows way more flexibility when fleshing out the remainder of the backcourt. A 6'4 lead guard w/ a 6'10 wing span means you can add a 6'1 guy who doesn't have to be a PG, but more of a shooter. Or, it allows you to add more SG style guards with a bigger facilitator like Mingo.

I guess my only pause with him is floor-spacing. Making just 23% of his threes in 13 EYBL games is cause for some alarm, though, but I'm no expert in skill development. I guess, what's his ceiling at 3P%? People often forget that Newton hit just 30% of his threes across his first two seasons at East Carolina.
