Duke Post Game Thread

Well technically it’s the 5 highest rated conference champions. People are already joking that if Duke wins the conference the ACC might get left out altogether by having 2 G5 champs in the field. I highly, highly doubt that happens but, theoretically it’s possible I guess.
If this win makes the ACC a zero bid, I home they send a personalized note from Jonathan to Jim Philips "The North Remembers"

Allagash White beer? $5

Duke QB? $8 million

Beating Duke in our house, storming the field, and my son getting a pic with Skyler Bell?

... priceless...

(classy move by Skyler to take so many pics with all the kids and signing autographs, along with all the other Huskies that did that as well)

I thought Mensah ONLY receives $4M a year. I think he has a 2 year deal. Anyone else think this is crazy?

Dang. After Ball St I said something along the lines of “the team’s ceiling gets lower every week”. I was embarrassingly wrong. The team got astronomically better after that game. 5-1 since including two wins over ACC teams

HUGE kudos to the coaching staff and the team. It hasn’t always been pretty but they’ve turned 1-2 into 7-3. Still a few more weeks to go but incredible improvement and momentum. LETS GO HUSKIES

You can make a case that we play to the level of our opponent more often than not.

Why was that previous play called back?
I think this was it.

15-yd Penalty
15:00 - 4th
Shotgun #2 J.Fagnano pass complete short right to #80 J.Neider caught at UConn41, for 32 yards to the Duke31 (#8 D.Stone), out of bounds PENALTY UConn Pass Interference (#80 J.Neider) 15 yards from UConn37 to UConn22. NO PLAY
3rd & 6 at CONN 37

The atmosphere was totally electric I was in section 206. Absolutely had an effect on Dukes offense. When the rent is rocking teams are in for a huge shock.

What a game and what a moment. You knew it was gonna be like this. Team kept their poise they had to be ready to deal with adversity and any kind of obstacle thrown at them like the ACC refs. There were some drives that I would've liked us to get 7, so there's in game frustration but how you handle the plays that aren't made determines the final outcome and they just seized the moment.

Man, what a game! What an effort by the team and coaching staff. I’ve had my heart rate over 100 since the snap of the ball, and can’t seem to stop riding the high (no drugs, I swear, just coffee).

To those that were able to make it to the game tonight, you were the 12th and 13th player on the field. Even the broadcasters were feeling the atmosphere at the rent. So thank you to everyone that showed up in droves, stayed the whole game, and roared until the very end. I was not able to make the game yesterday but could feel The Rent shaking from my iPhone screen. Had I not known better, I would have swore I was watching a “big time” college football game. Well done UConn nation!

I told my wife yesterday before the game, if I had no interest in either team and had a completely objective perspective, I’d say Duke is in for a serious eye opener. And that’s exactly what happened. You could see the look of complete dismay when their offense couldnt move the ball the way they wanted in the first half, and then watching them have little hope of stopping our offense (that fourth down conversion stuck a fork in that Duke defense) and then finally watching them physically cry after the game was decided by the game-losing fumble. What a great feeling to be a Husky alum/fan at that moment! Great win tonight, let’s bask in this feeling for a bit. On to Air Force!

Side note: Anyone hear of any updates on Vereen or Honig? Honig walked off on his own but Vereen was in some serious pain.
Vereen caught two huge passes on our final drive so he’s good. Hi IG looked fine as well

Skyler Bell is as good as any wide receiver out there in college football today. His numbers prove that, and his yards after catch are tops in the nation. I know he is not mentioned with others, but he should be, just as Joe Fagnano should be mentioned more, given his stats, which are as good as anyone's.
UConn is fortunate to have both of them.

I think they both find their way on an NFL roster next year. They've been that good.

Just such an impressive showing from everyone. Players, coaches, fans. Definitely the best win we’ve had since the RE 1.0 days. As great as Houston and liberty were they felt like wins that we were able to find a way to steal while this one felt like 2 good teams just going back and forth and if we played them again we’d have a really good shot. Plus the fantastic crowd both in size and how into it we were from start to finish.

To make this year a real step forward we needed this one. Hopefully no let down the remainder of the way and hopefully we can face another p4 team in the bowl game and make it a real special year.

Who knows what ends up happening with conference realignment but for yesterday at least the program and fanbase did everything we possibly could to show we belong

Unbelievable Day!
Voice will be hoarse for the next 24-48 hours.
The icing on the cake was, while exiting through Gate C, there was a father & son clad in Duke merch walking ahead of me. The son (9-10 years old) was crying hysterically. He turned & said "Bit Dad, don't THEY know that we're supposed to win?" CLASSIC Duke mentality...
One the subject of chop blocks;
Duke's defensive #7 was a p.o.s. & laughing about it early in the game...
This contest was just a warm up for next week. The service academies are known for & allowed to get away with low crack back blocking...
