My wife went to FSU. I have to say I've enjoyed how badly they are sucking right now. Do yourself a favor and never go to a game in Tallahassee. All the chanting and chopping will have you wanting to kill yourself before the end of the first quarter. The most annoying game experience ever.
Only way I'm going to FSU is if they offer me a faculty position in the Chem Eng department when I finish my PhD lmao

UConn almost won when Duke was favored by 17 points.

Win/loss wise, this season is going as scripted and while this team isn’t good, there are some aspects to be excited about.

Good luck on your dissertation, and give yourself plenty of time to write it. Did bulk of mine over a summer, but it took several months of prep before starting.

I don’t believe either one of the QB’s (Evers/Fagnano are the answers. Why are Wins in the 2024 season even considered important.

Find a QB who the program can recruit develop and retain, to bring the Football Program to a point where it’s not a detriment. Yet, every week it’s about the W/L record this year. I’m not suggesting they don’t try and win, but until the talent is on the roster (mainly QB) to compete at the levels you want to be at as a Program, it’s a problem.

If Fagnano was a freshman or sophomore he would be the unquestioned starter. Why is that same approach not taken with Welliver or Macdonald? The 50-55% completion percentage by the QB is not gonna work. I don’t care how mobile they are. The Pocket Passers are what sustain football programs.
That QB is already there..

I can only speak for myself, but in large part I view the esteemed football minds who are currently crying foul about Evers starting over Fagnano (many of whom a year ago claimed nepotism when Fagnano being named starter) is in a small way the football equivalent of those on the Boneyard who in February 2023 claimed Newton was not a good enough point guard.
It was even worse than that. There were folks proclaiming that JF was the worst quarterback in UConn history and that there's no way a kid from Maine could compete at UConn.

As a Maine fan and an ardent JF supporter, the 180 on the board has been unreal.

JF is a good game manager. Evers is more explosive. I'd choose option A, but the staff is all in on option B.

We lost to Duke 41 -7 at home, a year ago. We just lost by only 5 points at Duke. After the Maryland game, no one was expecting it to be this close.
Two different teams. Duke and us. I saw Duke vs Northwestern. They looked eminently beatable especially after the pasting we put on Merrimack. They were beatable until we benched the QB that got us our only W.

Exactly. This is why arguing Evers or Fagnano is useless in the overall scope of Uconn Football. There are no wins that will by themselves get Uconn an Invite. The relevance within football circles as an intriguing and contributing member does not currently exist where Uconn is being viewed, football-wise.
If winning doesn't matter what the heck is the point of showing up?

I disagree. It takes self confidence to compliment the opposition after a loss. It is also good modeling for his players.
Agree, 100%. The only thing that could've made it more confident would be if he had thanked Duke for making us better.

I don’t think Duke is a very good team…they definitely have some more talent in the skill positions which helped them get the win. I am still optimistic that this team can get 6 wins and a bowl (hopefully if someone takes UConn). They definitely stand a chance to win against FAU, Temple, Buffalo, Rice and UMass. That’s 6! Still gotta play those games, stay healthy and WIN them. Definitely seeing some improvement in the defense and I believe they’ll improve week to week! Getting Yates back will be huge too. If they’re sticking with Evers, I feel like they need to make his legs more of a threat. He needs to have more designed runs! Still think Joe throws a better ball!. Stop with the BS razel dazel!
FAU is much better than the 4 other teams you listed. It will be a close game on Saturday. If UConn loses to FAU could be looking at 5-7 season. Does FCS win count toward bowl needed 6 wins?

FSU female student body much high caliber than UConn. Just saying.

Now if I told ya that would defeat the purpose of using an anonymous handle ^_^. ;) Suffice to say I had several chapters (in science) for the dissertation as my advisor thought a good one needed at least 5. Makes me wonder how some dissertations are like 3 chapters and 100 pages.

Sure, I guess, by someone in your field, but do you really think this random group of jamokes would recognize it? Unless your dissertation topic was "Why My Name is Steve Wilson" or something similarly identifying.

I was curious because it fascinates me that this group of idiots that share the same passion are actually often pretty accomplished in the real world.

It does. The big point of contention is that the "bench Evers" side thinks JF gives us a better chance to win. I don't. While each has differing skill sets, I think its a wash. So play the younger guy you want to develop. However, if it becomes clear JF gives us a better chance to win now, then I'd make the switch.

That's the power of Pine-Sol graduating from a public Ivy nationally ranked#58 school. Loved your use of the word jamokes, haven't heard that in a while in my current digs. That word and jabroni need to be used more to describe others who think we need to drop to FCS.

For those that watched the game, did Evers seemed rattled by Puke's defense? I would've preferred Fagnano start due to how he handled Merrimack, but if Evers seemed to handle a stingy Puke D okay, maybe this was the game he needed to gut though rather than a cake walk through Merrimack. Monday morning coaching analysis makes me think they both got the games they needed to give themselves confidence versus future opponents.

Based on not much viewing to go on... it appeared to me that JF threw more accurately. I didn't like the rollout throws that NE seems to be saddled with, and also wasn't a fan of him in the pocket. Also thought the 2 trick play throws with JF were terrible calls. Going the wrong way and throwing across his body is a bad move. If they really want a trick play, how about Honig throwing? He started out as a qb, and is supposed to have a big arm.

I agree with the trick plays. They should be much more rare surprises, and come out of normal sets. Lining a QB in the slot kind of ruins the surprise.

JF's accuracy may be a bit better right now than NE's, but I think that could be a function also of the competition/lack of pressure he went against vs. Merrimack. I've seen NE deliver some nice balls in tight spaces already under more pressure. Also JF's release is slower, and sometimes he misses very open receivers terribly. Add in NE's running ability and I think either gives us the same chance to win right now. Therefore, play the guy you want to develop.

No more FGs. Outside 37 yards go on 4th down if it is under 10 yards to readhThis is a thing Mora is gonna have to understand. There is no competent kicking game.
We had a kicker in the early Big East days who looked like he would be awful. I think he even cost us a game with a chip shot miss. The he hit one to start it rolling in the right direction. Kickers are a strange breed. I hope this kid hits one and finds his rhythm too

Nuzie... yeah, he had some real dodos in 2004 but came good in later years. I don't know much about the kicker nonsense that's going on and I'm willing to believe Mora made a bet
