We’ve had plenty of embarrassments in the last dozen or so years. Tonight it feels good to possibly have a decent and competitive team.
Tristen Newton and Evers should never be used in the same sentence. Newton had a triple double in his third game at UConn.I can only speak for myself, but in large part I view the esteemed football minds who are currently crying foul about Evers starting over Fagnano (many of whom a year ago claimed nepotism when Fagnano being named starter) is in a small way the football equivalent of those on the Boneyard who in February 2023 claimed Newton was not a good enough point guard.
Are you claiming people weren't posting that about Newton in February 2023?Tristen Newton and Evers should never be used in the same sentence. Newton had a triple double in his third game at UConn.
What your just said was true. I was shocked how good he looked against Merrimack. He’s has gotten better and deserved a start today.Gotta love the yard. Last yr Joe’s release was too slow, he had no arm strength and was slow through progressions but a blowout win against an FCS team and people are saying all of that is now good enough to win against a decent fbs team lol.
I'm saying Tristen Newton and Evers should never be used in the same sentence for a whole bunch of reasons. Are you claiming people weren't posting that about Newton in February 2023?
I'll try again: from what you should be able to remember from approximately 19 months ago, were there posters on the men's basketball forum blasting Tristen Newton?I'm saying Tristen Newton and Evers should never be used in the same sentence for a whole bunch of reasons.
Again, they should never be used in the same sentence. Why are you doing this?I'll try again: from what you should be able to remember from approximately 19 months ago, were there posters on the men's basketball forum blasting Tristen Newton?
I'm not sure that we would have been able to run the ball anywhere near as effectively if there wasn't also the threat of the QB keeping the ball and running with it (as he did on the first play for 24 yards).Well, UConn lost a very winnable game. I think Fagnano gave UConn the best chance to win today as he is an experienced QB and Evers is not. People seem to underestimate Fagnano's game experience and and Evers lack of game experience. I don't doubt that Evers shows well in practice, but practice is not a game and being able to react in a live game is the most important attribute a QB needs. UConn's coaches know this, but it seems they think Evers can develop quickly and help UConn win games so he is the starter.
Why don't you just say that you refuse to answer the question?Again, they should never be used in the same sentence. Why are you doing this?
If UConn was 2-0 playing Duke at home it would be a sellout lmaoDuke’s announced attendance (20,174) seemed optimistic.
Running to set up the run is an interesting concept. I think the academies do something like that.I'm not sure that we would have been able to run the ball anywhere near as effectively if there wasn't also the threat of the QB keeping the ball and running with it (as he did on the first play for 24 yards).
Why are you asking such a dumb question? Why don't you just say that you refuse to answer the question?
Glad you think Duke is better than all these teams. I wouldn't count on it.It is possible to have a successful season if we run an offense that plays to our (incredibly obvious yet somehow elusive for Sammis) strengths and if the defense can continue to play relatively well. Evers's lack of accuracy and questionable decision making isn't great but can be worked around. Pryce Yates coming back at 100% would do wonders for us. Duke isn't good but they're significantly better than Temple, Rice, and UMass and definitely better than FAU, Buffalo, and UAB. Wake and Georgia St aren't unbeatable either, especially at home. There is a path to 6+ wins.

So an FCS QB playing with FBS talent looked good against a middle of the road FCS team. I'm shocked. What your just said was true. I was shocked how good he looked against Merrimack. He’s has gotten better and deserved a start today.
If you think this team has a lot of FBS talent we are looking at a different roster. So an FCS QB playing with FBS talent looked good against a middle of the road FCS team. I'm shocked.
They do, and you don't know how to judge a roster. If you think this team has a lot of FBS talent we are looking at a different roster.

Where did I say alot? Just said they have FBS talent which they do.If you think this team has a lot of FBS talent we are looking at a different roster.

A lot of saturday night coaches on the board who don't seem to know a lot about football but are great at crapping on things they supposedly love...

These aren't just kids who had offers from p5 schools. They PLAYED at P5 schools. Players like Sheffield, Bell, etc. We have an FBS squad, whether the Boneyard illuminati believe it or not...How to judge a roster?
I have no dog in the fight re: trick plays or the field goal attempt (Coach Mora went by the book on the fg - they had all their time outs. Most other coaches would do the same).
I wish the program isn’t where it is, and isn’t where it is heading. I am sure no one does (except a few basketball only fans). But that will never stop me from espousing my views on what I see no matter how bad.
