"And to be clear, we’re pretty sure that Danny was rooting for Bobby 100 percent but perhaps transferring his resentment and sense of inadequacy to Duke.

And it’s still there. And it wouldn’t surprise us at all if that’s what Flagg was talking about.

Come to UConn, Cooper. Help me us slay the dark blue dragon.

But Duke won’t oblige, which must be really frustrating."

Sorry I may be missing something trying to read this on my phone, but the article mentions the most interesting comments from Cooper Flagg. At any point in the article did they show those comments?

All I see is a bad writer belittling mental health issues and poking fun at someone while every time making SURE to mention “hey we love Danny” “ hey if not Duke we’d love UConn to succeed” “hey no offense, but the guys a pathetic head case!”

This is meant to be written from a “harsh” angle but pretend to be civil right? If not, good lord what a bad person

.-.
It's an article written that says nothing meaningful.
"In short, we’d love it if Danny could be happy."
Ummm, back to back championships in dominating fashion, which hadn't been done in a while, along with a nice salary boost...yah, I'd say Danny boy is a bit happier than this craptastic article would make one think otherwise.

I'm sorry, there's not a single actual quote in there, but a Duke fan speculating that Hurley must have tried to sell Flagg on the prospect of resolving Hurley's own (again, speculated) insecurity related to his brother's success at Duke?

That has to be trolling, right? There's no way someone actually believes that.

The article has a link to the podcast. . The host said that other coaches have Duke in their head and say bad things about Duke and why the recruit shouldn't go to Duke. Cooper Flagg nodded his head and said that he didn't like negative recruiting.

Is this a real publication or one of those fan articles hosted on a site? Because it reads like a post on a fan message board. Pure speculation with no real facts. Recruiting is a tough business. Of course coaches talk smack about the other schools.

6>5. Eat that Duke fans! :)

  • We've already slayed that dragon more than one time
  • I'm pretty sure our blue is a bit darker than their blue.
  • I highly doubt we talked down about them when we were recruiting Flagg
  • We've passed them in national titles, we by no means have any feelings of inadequacy towards anyone with the possible exceptions of Wooden's last dozen years at UCLA and earlier Geno versions of the womens' teams.

SBNation is a fan hosted site. The article is reading into a podcast between Cooper Flagg and Caleb Foster.

What a bizarre article. If anything, comes off as looking for artificial ways to posture perception that Duke is still king of the hill, when in fact it has an unproven underwhelming coach pinned to it, living off the brand K built. As long as Scheyer can keep busheling in the 5 stars, he'll keep Duke moderately successful based on talent alone. The question will be if he can continue that of recruitment if he keeps falling below expectations.

I’m not sure what to think. The guy is taking writers privileges I would assume. Flagg was offered to play against our Olympic team, he made a couple shots. Whoopity doo dah. We all saw them. Is Duke expecting 28 a night from him? I was scared of Houston last year until kid got hurt so duke beat them. Wasn’t scared of duke Kansas or unc. Do we have to win three in a row to slay dragon? I like our odds. It makes you think what a POS operation they think we have. Flagg better put up big numbers. 40 percent from three, hook shots in the post, fastest kid I’ve ever seen, and dunk on 7 footers constantly. If all this happens, I bow to blue dragon, well played.

So the premise of this article is that there were coaches who talked down about Duke when recruiting Cooper Flagg and the author is assuming it's Dan Hurley? Out of what must have been 100 schools who tried to recruit Cooper, it must have been the one who was in his final two, not the other ones he cut out earlier. Lame attempt.

Yup. Baseless allegations with no evidence produced.

Love the thread title.
Which of these tweets is more pathetic?

You just found the Twitter version of Dumb and Dumber. Notice with these Kentucky and Duke fans that they always talk about something else besides winning titles like ratings, whose fanbase is bigger, etc? Like any of that matters. Teams play and compete to win, win championships. Something UConn has done more recently and in dominating fashion, twice.

I mean, at this point UConn is the program that has proven it can remain a powerhouse under multiple coaches. UConn - 6 championships, 3 coaches. Duke - 5 championships, 1 coach. Until they reach the mountaintop with another coach they're a one hit wonder. Neat, they get 5 star recruits and underperform year after year. I'm so envious.

And if they don’t win it this year, or even make the Final Four, buyer’s remorse for the contract they gave Scheyer will reach a fever pitch. And I’m here for it.

The abject delusion which infects that entire bowl of verbal diarrhea is surpassed only by its thinly-veiled sliminess.
