Danny would have to be a fool to bad mouth Duke. Regardless of who is the coach of Duke that School has turned College Basketball into a well oiled machine. Danny is no fool. I agree with the poster who stated that since it came down to Duke and UConn, it clearly wasn't us that was bad mouthing the Blue Devils. This was a poorly written article that wasn't worth the time it took to read.

Duke fans are delusional... In related news, water is wet and the sky is blue.
Be careful here. On the Boneyard even if you state facts like these there will always be at least 1 poster who will argue with you that you're wrong.

Edit: Just saw the above post. See, I told you.

I was walking along the beach with my wife last week (wearing my Husky championship threads of course) and this guy was staring me down with a nasty look on his face so I walked towards him to see what his problem was. Then it hit me, I saw the big D on his jersey and realized he was a Puke alum. I just sneered back with an arrogant grin on my face and kept walking.

I mainly can't understand Duke fans who claim Duke is both a Blue Blood because they were good for years before K was coach and claim K was a better program builder than Calhoun. That one always confused me.
It's not confusing, it's nonsense. Duke went to the Finals just 2 years before K was hired. The team he inherited was ranked #1 during the previous season. The team JC inherited was called by the Boston Herald "the worst team in the history of the Big East." Another thing that irks me is that when outsiders tell the UConn story, they leave out the 90's. UConn dominated the Big East in the 90's, just couldn't get over the FF hump. I don't remember Gonzaga getting the crap UConn and JC got for not making the Final Four back then.

The case that K had a better career at Duke than Calhoun did at UConn can not be made based on how far forward they took their programs. On that basis, there is no comparison. It has to be made based on how incredibly consistent Duke was year after year over a prolonged period (and, in fact, Duke was significantly more consistent at a top level from '90 to 2011 than UConn was.

I still hold fast to my belief that Calhoun was the best coach of the generation, but if you're making an argument for K it's based on the consistency of being at the top level. It can't be made -- or even rationally argued -- in terms of program building. And if you're ever debating it with a K fan, ask the following question: "do you think it's more likely that K would have achieved what Calhoun did at UConn, or that Calhoun would have achieved what K did at Duke." I think it's an easy answer, but as it's totally hypothetical ....

K made a good decision to stay out of the NBA, otherwise would be hugely exposed.

Duke fans are legends in their own minds.
True that. I think I mentioned this before, but when UConn beat Duke for their first natty, I recall reading online from some Puke fans something along the lines of "9 times out of 10 we [Duke] would beat them [UConn]"...ahhh, but in that critical 1 out of 10 game, the one that really matters, they LOST! Seems they still can't get over that. No worries, C comes before D and 6 > 5, I like that order.

Well yeah, I guess it more confused me how they moved the bar back and forth so quickly.

B is A. The negative recruiting leading to them committing was the most interesting comment.
Yeah and it lead to a whole discussion on DH and the Uconn program needing to slay the dook dragon. Yeah, totally legit.

Well, the #1 recruit, A.J. Dybantsa, dropped UConn from his list, but I can take solace that he dropped Duke too... I would be shocked if he doesn't end up at Kansas or UNC.

I read the article and listened to the podcast. They’re completely unrelated. It was a very normal interview and the article has nothing to do with anything Cooper said lol. Seems like a good kid, very professional

Only thing that it could be was that Cooper mentioned that other schools were doing negative recruiting, “Duke doesn’t have this, Duke doesn’t have that”, but nothing specific

Feels like the article was just (successfully) made up for clicks. Or maybe something was said once the mics turned off

I guess we’ll never know!

Prepare your shock in advance.

BYU is to be reckoned with here by all accounts.
