Here is a very brief snipet of Kristina Higgins, an incoming 6-4 freshman post for Baylor. Reminds me a lot of Danielle Adams. Will need to get in better condition but has great size, a decent shot and can put the ball on the floor.

I'm not sure if you're aware of this but this is not the Baylor board. I can't believe that day after day, week after week all we hear is slanted news related to Baylor. I can assure you there are many people on this board who could care less if the Baylor basketball team disbanded. The only time we should be hearing a little bit of news regarding Baylor is within the week of any UConn-Baylor contest or the few days afterwards. I don't think anyone here is oblivious of the fact that Baylor has a good team that is made great by Britney Griner. Why do you feel the need to come here and continually feed us Baylor info. You may notice that we don't have UHart people here daily nor do we have Notre Dame people here daily nor do we have even Tennessee people here daily. I guess you must be some sort of orphan who has no one to talk to and share your insights of Baylor with. If your visits were monthly I could understand them but you're on the verge of surpassing all Boneyard records of posts in an hour, in a day, in a week, in a month, etc. etc.! I'm sure there are numerous Texans who would be enthralled by your knowledge of all things Baylor and your insight of women's basketball in general. Why deny them???????????

It is unfortunate for you that you find my presence so upsetting. If the mods find me to be a nuisance I will respectfully discontinue posting on this board.

And you are wrong. Most things I discuss here are not Baylor related.

I think that was a fair comparison...she does remind me of Danielle Adams.

I think someone should start a national WBB board, there are only 2 or 3 boards that are very active

I find the posts complaining about ETT posting so much WAY WAY WAY more annoying than anything ETT posts.
You certainly have a track record of your own for annoying posts, dd. Why would you go against the grain on this one?

Against the grain? I see three posters complaining about ETT's posts. You, Buzz and Maniac. Not exactly "the grain".

Shocking you would turn this at me when I didn't reply to you specifically.

I thought UCONN fans might want a glimpse at a player you may see next season. It was in no way promoting or building up Baylor. It was simply sharing of information. I've wanted to see as much of the incoming UCONN recruits as possible.

No offense, but there is no way she plays against UConn last year. Griner will go 40.

We don't, and you shouldn't. Not only are you not a nuisance from our point of view, we think you and our other visitors make very positive contributions.

We have fans of several of the expected top teams in 2012-13 posting here with some regularity. I'm hoping that continues into the season, when it could make for even more enlightening exchanges.

Then, even more than now, I'd hope we can be the partisans we are while also being fans of the game who can engage in knowledgeable and good-natured discourse.

Obviously, posting about another team is not against board rules, so there is very little to moderate. Equally obvious is that some people find posting about another team beyond a certain threshold of frequency annoying. I don't see anything wrong with them expressing their displeasure and actually find the vociferous response to their doing so somewhat unfair. Admittedly, the initial negative response in the other thread was over the top, but some UConn fans would rather the frequency of Baylor discussion on this board be reduced, irrespective of the moderators' or others' opinions on this subject.

From my own standpoint, I do appreciate the communal aspect of WBB and really look to college football to be my outlet for rivalry and outright dislike of competing programs. In that spirit, I'm pretty supportive of other WBB programs discussed here, especially given that most programs' home boards either don't exist or have no activity. How else can the sport grow without the ability for fans to connect?

I will say that, no offense, I don't really care about any incoming frosh for Baylor other than Prince, who I think has the capacity to be a factor next season. But that's just my opinion...which I appreciate being able to express freely. :)

It's still July, the season is months away but our posters are already in mid-season form belying JS's reference to "knowledgeable and good-natured discourse."

OK, boys and girls, here's how this good-natured discourse works.

ET Trash starts a post with a warning, "Drivel alert!," in obvious reference to an earlier uncomplimentary post directed at him. He then extols the virtues of a Baylor recruit, as if this tidbit is of consuming interest to all of us.

Next, BuzzyBoy lambastes Trash, putting him on notice that he, for one, is not at all interested in Baylor wcbb news. Ha-rumpf!

DD chimes in to defend Trash.

Now we are rolling. Wonkster zaps DD and they go back and forth briefly.

JS declares a truce, then Alex adds to this good-natured discourse by politely but pointedly suggesting to Trash that he should restrain his enthusiasm for Baylor recruits on this board.

I can hardly wait until February, when UConn and you-know-who will duke it out. In a good-natured way, of course.

I think Buzzyboys post was way out of line. It sounded like someone from the Summitt. I appreciate info from anyone on the Baylor board and encourage more. they are the big rival now.

It's not as if there is so much to discuss in July. It's not like "A Clock Work Orange." No one is being tied down, with their eyelids spread apart and forced to read a post.

Last year a Baylor fan invited UConn fans to visit their board and they have been very friendly to those who did so. I thought the discussion on the Baylor board about the recent Geno thing was rational and respectful to Geno.

It would be a shame for such a friendly rivalry to become like the one that once existed between us and Tenn. I hope Baylor gets a ton of good recruits. Better them than other schools I could mention.

I don't really see a difference between East Texas Trash posting about Baylor and folks posting about EDD. Neither is about UConn, but they are of interest to some. I personally had no interest in EDD, since she attends a college that has nothing to do with UConn (she is no longer a part of UConn, Delaware doesn't play UConn), so I simply didn't read those posts about EDD. At least Baylor has something to do with UConn in that the two colleges play each other, and look to be the big rival this year. I look forward to learning about the players etc and enjoy ETT's posts. Thank you EastTexasTrash for keeping those of us who are interested informed.

A return to an opponents board or general WBB board could, not would or should, be helpful. That is a reality but if it isn't the choice of leadership then we move onward. It is a trade off of pluses and minuses. If some participants and regulars become too irritated they will likely find other options like returning to Scout, Rivals or creating some new venue. What is clear is that increasing numbers have expressed the irritance and moderators are increasingly finding it necessary to put out repetitive fires.

The tension is always can the center hold, when does the nature of the board change too much for some, etc. Many have come and gone over the years, most I miss, some less so. Our daily worlds are just the same, mixtures of people and tensions. Some we embrace, some we avoid, some we would love to strangle and are thankful that distance prevents it and keeps us out of jail. We are all saints and sinners.

There are plenty who tire of EDD posts, ETT posts, bear posts, my posts, pun runs and Milford's humor, DD's grumpisoressness, Tony's bliss, the brilliance of Meyers pants, or wire's quizzes, and so on and so on. The question for each of us is when does the BY cease to be what we enjoy when we can steal moments during the day and when for any of us it is so irrevocably changed or we ourselves are that it just isn't worth it for us anymore. Only each of us can say.

I don't see the post by JS as putting out a fire so much as a chance for reiterating policy. The thread I read yesterday on Lin leaving New York, now that was a fire! Both sides put words into the other side's position that they could then tear down with increasing vitriol. This in my mind never reached "fire" stage, or if it did the real fire was a very brief off-topic rekindling of an ongoing feud.

By reiterating policy so much on this board the expectations are very clear. Of course many don't heed policy or are relatively new and unaware, hence the need for reiteration. Those policies suits my needs so I'm here. When they don't suit the needs of others they go elsewhere. Consequently, because of the moderators vigilance in regards to policy (there I go sucking up again) I don't see this board as having changed all that much since the new millennium.

As for my own take on ETT (not that anyone asked), I think he craves participation on a WCBB board and this is the one that satisfies his craving best. To me that is flattering, though frankly I'm not all that interested in Baylor and I think his craving leads him to get involved in some threads for which prudent restraint is better. I can choose not to read posts by ETT, or threads that are clearly about Baylor, and I often make that choice. That enhances my quality of life better than reading and complaining about them.

How to put a poster on Ignore:
  • Click on the poster's handle, located under their avatar
  • A brief profile will come up. To the far right is a link named Ignore. Click on the link
Problem solved.

Did you say something?

Seriously, there still is the issue of people quoting that posters. You will still see it. I used that feature to my advantage when ETT had me on ignore and I wanted him to read what I wrote.

But usuing the button and also showing some resrtaint will solve the problem.

I dunno, but it seems to me a thread with subject heading with the word "Baylor" in it would seem to be about, you know, Baylor. If someone has no interest in the Lady Bears, why click on the thread?

It's just summer...the Olympics are not here yet; the WNBA is suspended briefly, and the season itself seems light years away. These nipping/snippy posts happen all the time during this season. They are to be expected, as predictable as the weather (or as the weather used to be). Pretty soon there will be real game and players to discuss and things will be wonderful again.
