I dunno, but it seems to me a thread with subject heading with the word "Baylor" in it would seem to be about, you know, Baylor. If someone has no interest in the Lady Bears, why click on the thread?

Oh, I dunno...maybe because, you know, ocassionally baylor recruits are also being recruited by UConn. If the title is vague enough the reader won't know if that is the case or not until they open the thread. I will be honest with you. I think baylor plays outside of the rules and so it annoys me a little more when a baylor fan comes to a UConn board to flaunt their recruits. The women's game is nice in that cheating and unethical behavior still seem to be rare. Baylor, MD and UNC are rare exceptions.

Plus ignore does not really solve the problem since others quote people, refer to posts, etc. Plus sometimes there is something very worthwhile said.

It would be a big loss if ETT stopped posting here, but I highly doubt that's gonna happen.

If someone repeatedly posted about Southern Cal's recruits, that would be different ... but let's face it there is only one team that has more than a remote chance of beating the Huskies next year, and that's ETT's team. So it's all pretty relevant.

Of course, ETT had better hope Higgins doesn't get any minutes against UConn next year cuz if she does that almost certainly means BG is injured or in severe foul trouble.

And, not that Hoopgurlz rankings are the be all and end all, but it's a very rare recruit with a 50+ ranking that ends up making a noticeable impact on a F4 quality team (not just rookie season, I'm talking ever). Which Baylor may not be anyway post BG, but just sayin. I'm sure that out of the hundreds of players with 50+ rankings over let's say the last ten years, there are a handful of exceptions, but that would be a handful out of hundreds.

A return to an opponents board or general WBB board could, not would or should, be helpful. That is a reality but if it isn't the choice of leadership then we move onward. It is a trade off of pluses and minuses. If some participants and regulars become too irritated they will likely find other options like returning to Scout, Rivals or creating some new venue. What is clear is that increasing numbers have expressed the irritance and moderators are increasingly finding it necessary to put out repetitive fires.

The tension is always can the center hold, when does the nature of the board change too much for some, etc. Many have come and gone over the years, most I miss, some less so. Our daily worlds are just the same, mixtures of people and tensions. Some we embrace, some we avoid, some we would love to strangle and are thankful that distance prevents it and keeps us out of jail. We are all saints and sinners.

There are plenty who tire of EDD posts, ETT posts, bear posts, my posts, pun runs and Milford's humor, DD's grumpisoressness, Tony's bliss, the brilliance of Meyers pants, or wire's quizzes, and so on and so on. The question for each of us is when does the BY cease to be what we enjoy when we can steal moments during the day and when for any of us it is so irrevocably changed or we ourselves are that it just isn't worth it for us anymore. Only each of us can say.

excellent post Ice. Agree, part of the issue is the small number of good women's bball message boards. I typically take a break from bball in the summer, but because of the Olympics and Nneka's rookie year, I'm reading more boards. I mostly come here and Rebkell, which both have a lot of good info. I like the one stop shopping because of the news stories and blogs posted here. I enjoy the OT topics too.

The Bootleg, like the Baylor board, is pretty quiet. There are some very savvy and knowledgeable posters on the Bootleg, but I take a break and don't pay for it in the summer. I stopped going to the Summitt long ago because it wasn't healthy for me, or them. hah. I loved the old ESPN board, and still have friends there, but I don't go there much now. I will go back there when the season starts.

Regarding easttexastrash, he has a love of the game and is very respectful of the players, coaches and posters here. I enjoy our little banters, but could see how UConn folks here could care less about our arguments re: Nneka/Griner. I try to pull back when going to down an endless road, but I often miss the mark. I don't get into talking about recruits now, but will follow it more when we get closer to signing day. I just don't click on links that either I don't have time to read or don't have interest in now.

Obviously, UConn, Stanford and Baylor have been, and will be common opponents, so there is lot of info to share. I plan on booking a trip to Hawaii to see Stanford vs. Baylor in the fall. I hope to meet ETT there and will buy him a drink! Or, maybe he owes me a drink for beating us in Denver.

I like ETT's posts. Sometimes he drives me nuts, but I know some of my posts have driven people nuts. Sometimes I agree with people. Sometimes I disagree. Sometimes I care. Sometimes I don't care, etc., etc., etc. But I believe that the more opinions we have in here from UConn fans and from non-UConn fans, the better educated we become and the better board we have. I used to get very annoyed by the never-ending EDD posts -- I even may have commented on it a few times. And then one day, actually after I received a major spank down from Icebear, I realized that it didn't really matter and that I was getting my skivvies in a knot for nothing. People want to talk about different things. Why should I care -- especially during the off season. If we were all the same, there would only be about half a dozen color chips at the paint store.

I have also been welcomed and treated very well at the Baylor board. I've had a few people react harshly to some of my comments ... but, hey, it's a Baylor board I was being very pro-UConn, so I understand. If ETT comes north for the game this year, I'd buy him a beer.

Count me as another who supports JS's point of view and believes ETT definitely has a place here.. If all we did was talk about UConn women all the time, we'd run out of topics soon enough.

And whether or not there are good women's basketball boards out there is irrelevant. This is UConn, people. As the best program in women's basketball -- and allegedly the classiest -- it is reasonable to expect that we would entertain the thoughts of supporters of other teams. We may (and do) disagree, but unlike certain boards run by supporters of certain other teams, we have (as far as I know) always have welcomed those opinions. We've had productive posts from not only ETT but many other Baylor fans -- talk about classy, IMHO -- Rutgers fans, Sanford fans, ND fans, Louisville fans and even the occasional TN fan. So where, I would ask, does the critic come off screaming at ETT for alerting the board to a player who our favorite team might be seeing this year? What the hell is wrong with that?

When I cannot go to the Boneyard for many points of view, including those of fans of other teams, that's when I'll stop coming here.

I think the response to ETT was pure boorishness. Why click on a link that plainly states it's related to Baylor and then rant about that fact? I, for one, enjoy having ETT and cardfan as contributing members of this board and find most of their posts interesting/informative. Of course, UCONN WBB is the focus of this board, but we are also (generally speaking) fans of WBB as well. ETT may wax somewhat enthusiastic at times, but that is the nature of fandom.
