Seeing Marinelli is on the staff and we haven't heard a peep about Pyne, no way he's interested. I grew up in Stamford, club swam in New Canaan, and in 4 years in @Uconn encountered exactly 3 New Canaanites. They aren't interested in matriculating to Storrs.
Marinelli is not on staff. In fact he is a former football coach that is now a financial advisor assisting athletes and coaches.

Marinelli was on the staff for one year. But in terms of lower FairfieldCounty families applying to UConn? You are correct.
They rather pay Gettysburg $90K/PER YEAR to get a psychology degree. It is beneath them to go to a state school.

Jay Egan, the NC athletic director, is married to a former UConn athlete. Their daughters (swimmers) went to Loyola of MD and BU. Enought said for legacies....

Maybe this is a case of water finding its level. He certainly had 1 decent season at ND. The competition is absolutely fierce at the upper P5 levels.

Not every lower Fairfield County family, my 3 children are all UConn grads and are doing quite well in their choice of careers.

I was wondering if that had changed over the years…when I attended UConn (1986 grad), UConn was definitely a safety school for lower Fairfield County folks. Of course..the school’s reputation has significantly improved since then, so it’s not surprising that it’s now considered a viable option for the entire state.

In my Freshman year in 1985 on Fairfield 1st floor, we had 3 guys all from Stamford. They were not friends going into UConn. The next year we added a 4th. I don't recall much, if any, representation from Greenwich, Wilton, New Canaan, etc.

I’m younger (2014 grad) and I knew a decent amount of kids from Norwalk, but I feel like that’s one of the more “normal” towns in that neck of the woods.

Someone else in the portal:

Rashada initially committed to play college football at Miami over offers from LSU, Florida, Mississippi, and Texas A&M.[7] It was reported that Rashada received a Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) offer of up to $9.5 million after his commitment to Miami.[8] He later denied that any deal had been offered to him.[9]

He later flipped his commitment to Florida.[10] Shortly before he was set to enroll for Florida's 2023 spring semester, Rashada requested a release from his National Letter of Intent.[11] It was later reported that a $13.85 million NIL deal with the Gator Collective, an athletic booster group that is unaffiliated with Florida's athletic program, had fallen through.[12] Rashada ultimately enrolled at Arizona State, where his father had played.[13] On May 21, 2024, it was announced that Rashada was suing Florida coach Billy Napier and Gators booster Hugh Hathcock over the failed deal.[14]

I'ld be willing to bet that there is an agent/attorney waiting to cash in on settlements from all those "agreements". This stuff is a holy mess and it is so sad that there is not the leadership within college athletics to take this on and try to fix it.

If I were Mora and Benedict I wouldn't go anywhere near this kid.

I wonder who reached out to who? QB/Pass Game Coord Pryce Tracy just came from Georgia. I’m sure there is some familiarity if someone was looking for a new home. Win and they will try & come.

I would trust Mora to decide if the kid is worthy of a second chance. UConn could be a good place to rehab his image. We certainly wouldn't be paying him like P4 schools would.

Should be a hard pass.

Hopefully it’s just noise that his “agent” leaked.

This kid would spend more time litigating against than playing for us. Besides which, for the money he negotiated with other schools, we could use that money shoring up other aspects of the team. He's just a million dollar transferring bench warmer.
