Dorka and Phee, oh my!

.-.
As was the case with Phee, whether it is herd mentality or just plain stupidity, quite a few front offices and coaches screwed up on these two.
It's such a crapshoot and it's easy after the fact but it was clear how hard she plays. Combine that with height and ability and it's a no brainer.

I posted this in another thread, but thought it should have it's own thread. Mods can decide.
This is the Pheesa / Dorka line for last night's very big game for the Lynx... OT win over the Dream. Pheesa first line, Dorka second.

Now where was this hiding when I made my post? I swear I looked! :)
What hasn't been said yet was that this game was an OT game with big playoff implications. MN moved ahead of ATL with the win.

For those who want the full Pheesa / Dorka lines:

Dorka has really blossomed in the WNBA. The second half of last season you could see her developing into a legitimate force. I am just amazed at how quickly she made in her mark in the W. As for Olivia, I was watching some of the game last night and she was really, really good, particularly with her strength around the boards. Geno, and staff learned them good, and their confidence has grown tremendously!

The Lynx know who their star is!

There were a lot of folks on the Boneyard saying she was too small to be a four in the W and too slow/not enough of a shooter to be a 3. I wasn’t among them. She’s excelled at both.

She's a flat-out baller. Seems to be a great person, also.

Coach Reeves has Dorka bringing the ball up court now, not every time but quite a lot. Same is true for Phee. Dorka has gone coast to coast several times. Against Atlanta, she defended the rim on an early play, picked off the rebound and then drove the lengnth of the court through traffic for a layup. Her six assists included sime sharply thrown pinpoint passes. Very high court IQ.

It should not be a surprise that Dorka is excelling with the Lynx. First, she is a talented, determined young woman with great basketball skills.

Reeves has coached with Geno before. They seem to see basketball the same way. Reeves has said that UConn players come WNBA ready. Dorka was ready. The offensive the Lynx run is really suited to Dorka's skills.

After the draft, I said Dorka landed in the best spot between her and Lou.

If Dorka works on strength and conditioning this off-season, she's going to be a real deal problem next season. Maybe 10 more pounds of muscle..

Double-doubles by 2 UConn alums in the same game and then repeating it in the next game. Deuces really are wild!

I know Dorka had a broken wrist and a broken thumb, but she occasionally loses rebounds that she wouldn't if her hands/arms were stronger. I agree--if she gets stronger, she will be a load. I'd also like to see her improve her FT shooting. Some players who were good FT shooters have made themselves elite shooters. I'd like to see Dorka at 75% over the next couple of years or so.

Her 1-5 last night made the Lynx’s game a little more difficul.

Paige, Azzi and Ines were at the game.

TERRIFIC highlight reel! It looked like a UCONN Husky Practice with
those Collier, DORKA, COLLIER passes! I like the comment on one of
the Boneyard thread about the possibiliy of the Lynx getting Aubrey. Imagine
the "give and go" and diving to the basket possibilities of that group
of UCONN "pros"....
