Don’t bring Gomes around these parts...
Say it one more time coach!!! I didn’t hear you.
Don’t bring Gomes around these parts...
All of that means nothing. We recruited him, offered him and he didn't commit. Any kid who commits based upon geography is nuts.Sort of beyond the point. He spend a ton of time in CT and had serious ties here. You can't just loop 50-75 other schools in here and have it make sense.

He went to school in Connecticut since he was 8 years old. He lived in Connecticut since he was a teenager.Obtuse? Hilarious. CT kid? Funny too.
Elmsford NY who prepped in CT but had ties.
CT kids Ryan Gomes and Kris Dunn are "CT kids".

No, you're right he's clearly your typical basketball player who prepped in Connecticut.Ok you win. As long as we forget he played AAU for the Rens from NY, played his HS and collegiate summers at Rucker Park and his last 2 years were at Brewster Academy. Hmmmm sounds like most CT kids huh?
If I'm being honest, yes that sounds like a lot of elite CT basketball playersOk you win. As long as we forget he played AAU for the Rens from NY, played his HS and collegiate summers at Rucker Park and his last 2 years were at Brewster Academy. Hmmmm sounds like most CT kids huh?
You guys did all you could do and he still went with Slick Rick, UConn has no excuse on this one.I'm old enough to not get too worked up about a recruit until they actually play a game but this one hurt.

High school stud teaches Providence how brutal recruiting can be
For two years, Providence followed Donovan Mitchell around like a lovesick school boy. The school frequently attended his basketball games, texted and called him and made him feel loved. Coach Ed C…nypost.com

Elite Connecticut basketball players often play AAU out of state for programs like the Rens (Heron) and Expressions Elite (Waters, Jones.) And all the elite kids go to get some run at the Rucker. You're also wrong about Mitchell playing for the NY Rens, he never played for them.Ok cool I missed them all that went that route so please educate me? Had no idea.
Duncan is why Barnes left. Greg Bruckner and Jason Williams had already committed. Duncan called and said he wanted to come. Barnes went to the school President and said he wanted to offer Duncan a ship because he knew two kids were transferring. The President at the time Father Smith (the one who got rid of baseball and hated sports)said no. Duncan went to Wake. Barnes went to Clemson, The other two commits left and became pro’s eventually and it took us almost 20 years to recover. It was the big suck, you are right. You guys did all you could do and he still went with Slick Rick, UConn has no excuse on this one.
Tim Duncan and White Chocolate were supposed to play for the Friars, that's gotta hurt more than anything.
Do you realize that a lot of recruits do this? Think about all the recruits who stay close to home. Just like a lot of regular college students do.Any kid who commits based upon geography is nuts.
