Dom Amore: Jason Candle’s whirlwind rebuild yields a whole new UConn football team

In college football, if you get the QB right, a lot of other things fall into place. If you get the QB wrong. There is trouble.
No attack but I will agree to disagree for this reason.
"The game is won and lost in the trenches" is
a football adage emphasizing that success is determined by the physical, high-impact battles between the offensive and defensive lines at the line of scrimmage. Dominating this area is crucial for protecting quarterbacks, establishing a run game, and controlling the tempo.
Our most recent QB did not look great until he had a line that could make holes for a great RB that kept defenses on their toes. This to also keep an eye on a top D1 receiver or two. Thus giving him time to make his reads and complete his passes.
We have had several good QB's at UConn that had to constantly run for their life. It takes all 11 on the field, yes the QB gets all the attention just like a pitcher in baseball but the QB is only as good as the supporting cast.

Feel better?
Only a respectable D1 program does that. W's, baby, W's. Kinda like those who squeal with delight that the "pitchers and catchers" have reported, as they look out their windows at snow, ice, freezing temps . . . the nice weather is months away.

Put a poor QB behind a great line and you don't get a great team.

Did you ever see Fran Tarkenton play?

I hope you have a more recent reference than that if you want to prove your point…lol.
I believe he also has his reference backwards.

Tarkenton (at least as a Giant) ran for his life on nearly every play.

I don't care how good a QB is, if you can't protect him he won't be able to do much.

I think it's awesome that we have our first spring training games at the end of this week.

I can't imagine why anyone would dislike baseball restarting. Just like I can't imagine seeing the football team you root for, who has been on a consistently upward trajectory, put out a hopeful tweet and then bah humbugging it.

Hope the AD has allocated enough funds for extra programs with all the turnover. Or maybe e.mail it out in advance. (Well, you know how that goes, at least for me.)
