Does UConn get back into the Top 25 this year?

This loss just means there will now be at least 5 Big East teams that will be in and out of the top 25. Maybe 6, as Creighton will move up in the “also received votes”, and have a chance to move higher. Or lower, true of any of the BE teams getting votes, whether ranked or “also”. Providence is “also”, 28 in AP, Monday they’ll be ranked. Yes, it’s a loss to an unranked opponent at home, not ranked in top 25, but they were still ranked in the top 30! Depends on other teams results this weekend, but we could still be ranked Monday, I think we will be in fact, but if “also” instead, the league offers plenty of chances for wins against ranked conference foes.

I don’t know who the highest ranked BE team will be as the season plays out. But with most of our ranked teams being in the lower half of the top 25, and playing each other, we may see some in and out of the rankings all year long. And that includes ourselves….

Right now UCONN and Nova are the only top 25 teams with more than 2 losses. PC will move up. Perhaps Wisconsin, Loyola Chi., San Fran, Minnesota, WVU. CBS 26 has UCONN out.

The voters will see teams with only 1 or 2 losses and move them up. The wheat, as it were, from the chaff.

Providence, Xavier, Kentucky, and Colorado State will pass us. Arkansas, Texas Tech, UNC, and San Francisco lost. If we are #24 or #25 depends on if Wisconsin and Oklahoma both pass us. Very possible we are #26 but #24 or #25 wouldn't surprise me. Also, interested to see if Nova falls out completely. If that happens, we should be in.

Until I looked at who got votes, I'd have agreed.
In fact, I don't even see all that much of a case for Tennessee being ahead of UConn. Their home victory over Arizona doesn't strike me as being any better than our neutral court victory over Auburn, and what else do they have besides beating a UNC team that hasn't really impressed.

Expecting 8-10 regular season losses which should make us hover in the 25-35 range. We do need to win what we are supposed to win though, which I suspect will be not so certain as we hope it would be. Lots of talent led by a guy not getting the most of it.
