Dan, I'm gonna go out on a limb, even though I know nothing about your situation, and say that my connection to the football program runs a lot deeper than yours does. I'll continue to support the program whether I decide to post on the BY or not. I've decided that this place is not fun anymore. That's all.

I've been posting on here for well over a decade. I was a card carrying apologista during Edsall's original run. I don't need your (or any of your wanker fans on here) stamp of approval nor do I need to answer to any of you. Most of the posters who's opinion I respect don't post here much anymore. The place is a disaster. If you enjoy posting here please feel free to continue to do so. Just enjoy it and let go of the anger. Who cares who posts or who doesn't post after wins?

Lastly, go screw yourself.

Wow.

Are you feeling like my statement was aimed at you? If so, why did you feel that way?

Maybe the reason you feel my comment was aimed at you is also the reason why you would so kindly tell me to go screw myself.

You're always a ray of sunshine, Jimmy...

For whatever reason, fans at NESCAC games look more fit.

'CAC football has at least 4 of the 10 oldest football fields in the country. Just a tidbit I had to throw out there, just in case. Dartmouth makes it be 5 of the 10 oldest continuously used fields in New England. I know one is in the Midwest (Ohio Wesleyan?) and another in Tennessee (Sewanee). Don't know the last 3 of the 10 oldest.

Ok buddy. The only reason I knew this post existed is because someone texted me that 97 was on his sanctimonious high horse and took a shot at me on the BY but didn't even have the guts to name names. This will be my last response on this. Carry on superfandan.

There's a bigger issue here. Is it just me, or has the country generally been taken by a virus of negativism? Seems like everybody has an opinion about everything (rarely factually-based) and that everyone else is an idiot. I sense a long-term problem with this.

Someone please tell me I just see more random dolts...

Weapons of mass destruction........negativisim, devisiveness, arrogance, and lets resist everything and anything to which we don't agree. Everybody is an expert at everything to which they lack experience.

Did these same people ever compliment the coaches/players when something went right?

Look, Randy has stated on multiple occasions what HE believes the issue/problems are and where they exist. He's played and coached the game, unlike may of those idiots that know nothing about everything.

I'm in Randy's corner for now, no matter how many times I may grimace from what I observe on the field. Three years down the line, if nothing changes, I may feel different. But for now, my blood runs UConn blue!

Well then whoever did that must have been even more sensitive than you are. This is like the third or fourth shot that you've taken at ME in the last two weeks. Everything from my undefeated predictions to even the fact that I use italics at the end of my posts.

If you don't like me, fine. If whoever pm'ed you doesn't like me, also fine. I guess feel free to continue taking shots at me and getting mad about my italics...

For the 4th time in as many home games (I nomadicly scamper around the stadium) I’ve had “UConn fans” around me actively rooting against and second guessing the team. Getting quite tired of it I nearly lost it today at a shirtless 40 yr old behind me who had the muscle tone of a 9 yr old and in his opinion way more football IQ than our staff who was vehemently cheering when calls he disagreed with didn’t work. Are you on this bored? Someone simultaneously bald yet prepubescent?

Can’t really fault anyone who is buying tix and showing up these days but I’m quite weary of these clowns. Cheer on the team.

I had four season ticket holding "experts" in their 40s and 50s behind me during the HC game doing the same thing. In the middle of the 2nd quarter they started getting on the kids because they were getting beat by an FCS school. When one of the experts said "I'm done!" with 4:00 left in the first half, I turned and said "GOOD! Get *%# out because I'm tired of listening to you badmouth these kids!" I proceeded to rant for a bit about multiple years of recruiting FCS quality players and
I've never done anything like that in my life, and wasn't really proud of my outburst. I did get some props from some of the others in my area, but I downplayed it. We were able to converse civilly with the experts after that and have since that game. But it begs the question, why even come? They leave early every game and don't seem to enjoy when things go well, (like the comeback in that game). Stay home and scream at your TV.

I actually moved away from my 10 year+ season ticket seats halfway through the 4th today because I couldn’t take two of four UConn fans (they weren’t season ticket holders) behind me for this game who thought they were playing Madden. These weren’t “oh man/‘c’mon guys” comments - they were “I would have called this” and “I would have called that” and “Randy has no clue what he’s doing” type comments - incessantly. Obnoxious little batsards who weren’t drinking - just stuffing their faces w/ nachos and popcorn.

Sometimes you get lucky and have someone sit nearby that knows the team/game and sometimes you draw the short straw and get the tools who don’t know the guy they are cheering for graduated last year.
Were you sitting in my row? Same situation. Some play happened that reminded me of the previous regime. I joked to my buddy that they should fire Diaco now. The turd behind mumbled that he wanted to kick the ducker in the head and mumbled crap about Diaco. Good times.

Lots of "coaches" sitting in the stands. Have a group behind us that comment on what should've been differently on almost every play.

Speculating about play calling isn’t that big a deal. But there is a season holder in my row who is doing a play by play commentary that is 75% negative and annoying, but the first to want to slap five every one in the stadium after a good play, especially a score. 50ish and usually drunk

Bates and Bowdoin in Maine have two more of the 10 oldest fields. New England has at least 7 of the 10 oldest football fields.

Well, no yet carry on with your whiny negativism regarding most UConn sports.
Hehehe, a shame to waste bandwidth on this but the only other sport I post on is men's Hockey. Don't think I have been very critical there; but, even if I was, I have blogged on Husky Hockey since the days when Cav was playing for Bowdoin (total of 25 years). I think I have earned the right. Doubt you were even born then. And I wear a UConn away game sweater -- that Bruce gave me -- to UConn football games. I would also point out that just because you and I disagree on an on-campus barn, doesn't mean I am being negative.

Btw, you should have seen the two goals that Todd Krygier scored against Alaska Anchorage under the Eero Sarinen roof. Things of beauty.

There has been so little to criticize in the coaching this year other than overall the 3-3-5 being a poor match for our current talent, that I cannot imagine running commentary on the play calling. In the upper reaches of Section 200 we hear none of that at all. The discussion is always about what the players did on the last play (or the refs). Pretty much normal for what should be heard at a game. Helluva lot of high fiving on UConn TD's and screaming on defensive third downs for instance.

Franklin Field at Penn rounds out the list of the 10 oldest fields in gridiron football. Had to add that. Of the 10 oldest fields, 2 are in Connecticut, 2 in Massachusetts, 2 in Maine, 1 in New Hampshire, 1 in Pennsylvania, 1 in Ohio and 1 in Tennessee.

Crazy as it sounds, at NESCAC games, it's former players of NESCAC squads who didn't make out too well in life who would be the most likely to act similar to FBS level screaming common fans would. There's a corelation between contentment and attitudes towards games. Shouldn't require a study to figure that out.

Drunks can be eliminated. Went to LSU Florida in 2004. 92,000 fans. No beer in stadium. Get DRUNK before and after the game. Florida won!!

Then go to your local bar and drink yourself to death. Save yourself $ on tickets, parking etc, think how many beers that$ will buy!

At least there you will probably be among "likeminded friends" unlike at the game and on this board.
That's a tad Disproportionate.

So ... we want even FEWER fans in the seats and LESS revenue now? Interesting.
