Hah, could your shirtless friend be worse than so many of the all-knowing game thread negatoids? ;)
Ah, the negatoid police. Isn't it time for you to go back to Catalunya and root for Barca instead? I hear Estadio Nou Camp is nice this time of year.

Stop being shocked people like beer and partying better than mediocre college football. This isn’t SEC country and outside of the weirdos on this board most couldn’t care less about the outcome and would rather have a good time on a Saturday

That's fine.

So long as that group of folks never complain about not landing great recruits and not winning more football games. Because, in a weird twist of fate, great high school players tend to choose NOT to play in front of 1/4 full stadiums that don't cheer and don't seem to care about the final outcome of the game. What I'm guessing is that the group of folks we are talking about are actually the same group doing the complaining. Ironic, that they may be a large part of the issue that they so often moan about...

Then go to your local bar and drink yourself to death. Save yourself $ on tickets, parking etc, think how many beers that$ will buy!

At least there you will probably be among "likeminded friends" unlike at the game and on this board.

People are probably getting lit at the tailgate parties, not in the stadium.

Agreed. It's hard to get lit in the stadium at $9 a pop.

Does anyone know if any part of that $9 goes to the school (or some other charity)? If not, talk about "highway robbery"...

There's a bigger issue here. Is it just me, or has the country generally been taken by a virus of negativism? Seems like everybody has an opinion about everything (rarely factually-based) and that everyone else is an idiot. I sense a long-term problem with this.

Someone please tell me I just see more random dolts...
It's nothing new. When my sons were 10 and 8, we took them a game. We sat in front of two drunk jerks that were this and that so my husband turned around and asked politely if the guys could watch the bombs. One guy then screamed the swear word as loud as he could in my husband's face. His buddy must have been a bit more sober because he dragged the other guy - who wanted to fight - to another seat.

That story barely makes sense after the bad word filter got done with it.

Yeah, toward the aisle. I can reach out and touch the chairbacks without having to pay for them... ;)
What row? I'm row seven (a few behind Money & BL).

I'm in Row 13. We have a couple of nice folks in row 12 and row 11 that I chat with during the games. Make sure to swing by and say hi if you get a chance. My son likes the high-fives with UConn strangers... ;)

If you saw a great haired old guy wearing a blue #40 UConn jersey yesterday it was me.

New Englanders and especially Connecticut residents are insufferable. Being a former one myself it took me years to just realize it's just a game and life will go on win or lose.

Newer settlements or developments are more laidback much of the time....because they're newer. Connecticut has really been lacking much of anything new for decades. That is going to change, though, with all the urban renewal going on. The cities in CT that people consider "trash" are LOADED with beautiful old architecture, even Meriden. It's a matter of what's being made of what's in the state. With wealth and comfort, comes relaxing and contentment. Not everyone in this state is well off.

A lot of sports fans turn to sports to fill a void. For example, the New England Patriots. Have been a fan since 1986. Didn't see Mexican or African American Patriots fans before till now.

You know, this thread has actually reminded me of something that I've been itching to say but that I didn't want to start a thread to say it.

There are a few folks on this board who disappear after a win like they are part of the witness protection program! Oh sure, when we're getting our rears kicked, they're the first ones to chime in with the nonsense. But after a win? Crickets. After two wins in a row? I start to check the obituaries because I'm not sure they are still alive.

I never understood that about some folks and I never will. I'd rather be a super homer than to be a miserable prack...

Believe me Dan (and I know you are aware) - it happens all season in the Men's basketball forum.
It's even worse in the MBB game chatrooms
You got folks who can't wait for the team to do something wrong and it's KO sucks etc. but when something good happens its silence or a 360
I just don't get these "pracks"
I may be a Pollyanna but I stay true to the Blue, good or bad - and yes I do criticize players and coaches but certainly get no joy or wake up every day looking forward to it

You definitely know I'm aware because you see me battling over there when times are tough. Nothing is more taxing than defending UConn from other "UConn fans"...

Lol you want less people at the games? It can be you and the handful of posters here in the stands with a grumpy scowl on their face with an entire section to themselves. Lighten up Champ.

Dan, I'm gonna go out on a limb, even though I know nothing about your situation, and say that my connection to the football program runs a lot deeper than yours does. I'll continue to support the program whether I decide to post on the BY or not. I've decided that this place is not fun anymore. That's all.

I've been posting on here for well over a decade. I was a card carrying apologista during Edsall's original run. I don't need your (or any of your wanker fans on here) stamp of approval nor do I need to answer to any of you. Most of the posters who's opinion I respect don't post here much anymore. The place is a disaster. If you enjoy posting here please feel free to continue to do so. Just enjoy it and let go of the anger. Who cares who posts or who doesn't post after wins?

Lastly, go screw yourself.
