lol, player's of Newman's caliber don't go to Wisconsin unless they're from there.

That was my point.

on another note, interesting tweet from a guy who covers Duke & UNC recruiting for R1vals.

Diamond Stone is down to five: home school, actual choice, LOL, marketing 101 and OMG. #realtalk

obviously Wisc is the home school, is Maryland "marketing 101" since they're a UA school and Stone plays on the UA circuit?

You're overthinking it.

1. Maryland --> LOL
2. Duke --> Marketing 101
3. Wisconsin --> Home School
4. Oklahoma State --> WTF
5. UConn --> Actual Choice

Maryland and OSU are interchangeable with LOL and WTF, Wisconsin is the home school, but I dunno who could be "marketing 101" or what that even means

.-.
Quite frankly - I have always been skeptical of the package deal but I know at least at one time our coaches thought it was a very viable possibility. But, I don't see any Newman visit activity yet - so next week is key. If you don't see any movement it's Stone to WI and Newman to UK. If we schedule a Newman visit it's all over for everyone else - done deal.

Actual choice=Uconn
Then that means Puke is either LOL or OMG... why? I hate Puke as much as the next guy, and I know we haven't exactly heard much about Puke and Stone, but when are they ever LOL or OMG for any recruit?

That's why that tweet makes no sense to me

It seems like you are saying that our only chance @ getting Stone is if we get Newman as well. Perhaps the post is just poorly worded but thats what it seems like...and that would go against pretty much everything we have heard about Stone so I don't buy it. Is that what you meant?

I hate myself for weighing in on this, but there's no "WTF" on there. It's "OMG."

So my (embarrassed) guess, assuming UConn is "actual choice," would be:

1. Marketing 101 - Maryland (UA)
2. LOL - Ok. St.
3. Home school - UW
4. OMG - As in "OMG" he might go to Duke the most amazing program in the world.

[Reflects on post.]

[Unlaces shoes.]

[Makes makeshift noose.]

Poorly worded I guess - the point I was trying to make - if you see a Newman visit lined up - it's really cuz Stone is coming here no matter what - and Newman has always been the one of the two - who talked up the package most. Newman, if he goes solo, I don't think he ends up at UConn. Stone may come to UConn either way.

If we lose Stone, Newman and Jones, I'd be bummed but if we got Enoch, Clarke and Baptiste that would remove all the sting. I just hope we don't end up with deep contingency plans. I hope there is some movement soon.

I like that he listed us at 5. We win when we're under-seeded.
"We have Maryland, Duke, Connecticut, Oklahoma State and Wisconsin,” said his father, Bob. "We wanted to stay consistent with our plan of meeting and getting the schools to five when Diamond returned home from Dubai."

Damn, he didn't list UConn last.

We won as a 3 seed in 2011. Maybe he's a Kemba fan.

UCONN is right in the middle. If that was a bell shaped curved, we'd be at the top.

Enoch and Stone playing together on the same court will be devestatting

I think this quote clears up the question from yesterday as to whether this was his final five...or his favorite five (meaning there could be others on the list, but just ranked lower...for now). His father's wording seems to suggest that this is his final five.

As far as his listing order is concerned, when you ask someone to select an item from a list and you don't want to make the most logical choice stand out, where do you place it in the list? Not at the front...too obvious...not the end...trying to hide it...but right in the middle. ;)

This list leads me to believe that it truly is between us and Wisconsin. Would have been wary of UK and the squid if they were included but MD & OSU seem like list fillers and can't see him ultimately landing at Duke

For those who maintained that Stone was a long shot, we are very much in great position to land the coveted big man and he would be KO's biggest recruiting jewel to date...let's close this out!!

Are we still in at all for Diallo? Wasn't sure if there's any possibility we land Stone and Diallo.

who was the last great Wisconsin player... devin harris? mike finley? when was their last title? This can't be about basketball. Wisconsin IS legendary party school, thats what i'm seeing

Wes Matthews?
senior? maybe, but his career was good not great. the environment is madison is someting else, so i could see that being a factor. but him and newman seem strictly business. i know newman doesn't even watch college hoops, forget choosing a school based on their football team. hoping thats the case with stone

I mean come on with this. They were in the Final Four last year and they bring back an NPOY favorite. The way we denigrate other programs around here is not a great look.

hometown school, a great coach, they were just in a FF, and given what they do with Kaminsky he knows that an offense can run through him. Not saying KO won't do the same because he's all about taking advantages of mismatches and if Stone's post game is as good as advertised he will get plenty of touches, but its not like there is a downside to Stone picking Wisc.
