Agree, that whatever reason Diamond is leaving North Carolina,is her,her family, and the team's business, and not necessarily ours.
We all need to remember, that even though Diamond has a year in college completed, she is still a young lady.Heck, even a senior in college is still a young lady.
For whatever her thinking is,I just hope Diamond finds a college where she feels comfortable, and can grow as a person.
As far as North Carolina is concerned,I believe they will still do well with the present team, and through future recruits,in league and tournament play.Several players on the team were considered by Connecticut, and that tells me that they can become special with hard work and coaching.
Speaking of coaching, one thing bothers me very much.
Geno is an exceptional coach, and we all realize that. There are few,in my opinion, who presently match up with his talent of getting the best out of his people.
However,I feel sometimes I read the post views of where other coaches fall short of developing talent, whether they are experienced or not,as head coaches.
It can be hard being a head coach, for several reasons. The person you recruited could be very different from what you thought they were when you recruited/scouted them.
Personalities on a team may not mesh as well as expected or wanted.Even assistant coaches may not gel with a player or players, that the head coach never anticipated.
Personal lives beyond the basketball arena could effect an attitude,or confidence,or even an understanding of what is going on during practice or games.
The personnel today, overall, is much more talented than it was,say 15 years ago,so,being a star above the crowd is harder for fans to discover.
There could be many reasons why a very talented young lady never reaches what many perceive as her full potential.
Assuming the coach cannot fully bring out that talent,no matter how long the coach has been coaching, may not be an accurate summary. Results can sometimes be deceiving.
We are very fortunate, not only to enjoy a great head coach, but, also, some impressive assistant coaches at Connecticut.
I still give respect to other coaching staffs, for,I believe in most cases, they were hired for very good reasons, and many have achieved, and will achieve, much success.
