DePaul Post Game Thread

Missed far too many bunnies early on and couldn't get that separation from DePaul in first half, Silas buzzer beater 3 got it to 10 point lead at the break.

We looked really good for a long stretch of the second half. We were up 23 when it went to garbage time and Holtmann was still coaching his butt off because he's building something which Hurley respects.

Braylon was player of the game with 16/7/3/3/2. Silas is great. Nice to see Solo getting it going a little second half. Our starting 5 is awesome.

Since when do both teams not pull starters in a 20 point game with 2 minutes left. IDK, I thought that was weak for DePaul. Players aren’t dumb, they know they scored off our second team, don’t think it builds . I’m annoyed.

Hurley must not care about resume analytics at all. Marvin of Victory matters a ton, yet they consistently take their foot off the gas at the end of games.
Nope, he doesn't give a shart about computers but he's like Cignetti. He cares about his team doing everything right from the first play to the last play so he won't be happy.

Would like Ross/Stew get some of their offensive juice back. Both do a lot of useful things, but getting 10-12 them off the bench would be great. Otherwise a win is a win. Not particularly impressive, but we’re more workmanlike than previous years. Mullins is crazy talented.

Nope. DePaul has sucked for 20+ years and they don't suck anymore. The culture was a disaster and Holtmann has changed that, he's going to coach his team for 40 minutes. Hurley respects it.

On a positive spin, it's darn scary to think that this team has lots of room to improve as GA pointed out:
If Solo and Silas can get their 3point shooting at their respective norm and Hurley can get the turnovers down as He is fully aware and working on it in practice, this team could very well be the chosen one.

This is 75% of UConn's remaining schedule. Spend 30 minutes building a 20 point lead. And opponents either fold or fight o the finish. DePaul chose to fight and UConn's bench chosr to not match intensity.

Another great game by Mullins, AK, and Demary. Nice to see Solo find his groove in second half. Yeoman's performance by Reed.

How do we square having one of the best resumes in the country, but sitting 9th in KenPom? One spot below an Illinois team we manhandled. I have to think we’re better than metrics indicate

Good team that wins games, but doesn’t step on throats of opponents worse than us
Yup. Should have pushed the 22 point lead to 30 not win by 12

This team does not have to rely on an Alpha dog scorer. And that is dangerous to all opponents.
That's what made our recent title teams so dangerous. We didn't reply on only 1 or 2 guys to score.

I like Stewart as we know he has offensive moves but he does almost nothing on offense in the last few games. He has to be more active like Ross is when he comes in. He doesn't have an urgent bone in his body and that hinders him on offense.

Depaul shot 47%. We just can't have a any team and especially DePaul shoot that well against us. Not our best defensive game after kind of bad defensive game against Providence.

DePaul scored 60 pts and 10 of them came in garbage time. Many of their made shots were high-difficulty end of shot clock. Give them props for those. Our D was pretty stifling overall.

It only crept up that high because it f the last few minutes

Team needs to shoot better from 3. Solo
Had an efficient game. Defense was good until the last 3 minutes. Too many turnovers. We need more production from the bench. Seton Hall will be hard to beat.

Putting the starters back in was indeed sending a message. Just not sure who the message was sent to, the DePaul coach or the Husky subs? Probably a little of bath.
In my opinion it was more being safe - lead was down to 14, and if we turned the ball over in the backcourt a couple more times, it could have led to some anxiety.
