Delaware- Arkansas-LR game

ESPN has Delaware's summary with top scorers being "2 tied with 39." EDD must have a twin, but the sum of the two must be different from the team score of 73.

EDD is a spectacular player. Was my first time to get a good look at her. Had she finished a few of the bunnies that she missed early she would have pushed the 50 point mark. I am truly surprised that she was not invited to work out with the National team. I'm not sure how good her perimeter defense is since she plays in the paint on defense. I have a feeling that she may have a difficult time keeping up with some of the quicker forwards in the WNBA.

I was really pleased with Fran Fraschilla's knowledge of the women's game. He must be a fan or a really good study.

Griner may get POY but if I need a basket I want EDD and if Im starting a team I take EDD. Shes silly good. When it comes to offense shes at a whole different level then anyone.

Not a bad choice...her offensive game is one of the best I've seen in college.

Fraschilla is a basketball junkie. Women's, college, pro, international- he's got it covered. Was thrilled to see him doing women's games.

He was excellent!

I would rather hear anyone than Abby Waner...and we get her for the next Baylor game also.

I am hoping Delaware keeps winnings so the national audience can finally get a chance to see this player. It's a shame this is the first time people got to see her on TV. ESPN would love to be able to use her in a hyped up game vs Tennessee or Baylor.

Yes, and they are going to play that same interview before every game. ESPN can take a really beautiful story like EDD's and make you tired of hearing it, which I am sure they will do until Delaware loses.

You'll need a full box of Kleenex if Delaware and Tennessee play. That will be one sappy mess that ESPN puts together for that game.

Delaware-Tennessee, she's likely to be covered by Glory Johnson. That should be an interesting test for her, nowhere on her schedule has she run into that sort of physical buzzsaw.

Thanks...I thought I was the only one. As compelling as EDD's story is, ESPN must figure people tune in for half an hour, then goes away. But ESPN is obviously "all in" on the EDD story. They do a look-in at the SJU-Creighton game which was a 2-point game, then they had to rush back to tell us more about how much they admire EDD. Even after EDD went out, and the outcome totally decided, they only switched to the SJU game with a minute left, AND after EDD left the game and wasn't coming back in. If you have to do that obnoxious "whip-around" at least whip to a compelling game, father than a compelling story.
I know I'll be bashed here by some for being an EDD-hater, but that isn't the case at all. Yes, I wished she had stayed at UConn, but that was a long time ago now, and I am well over it. My bashing is aimed at ESPN. Look at the mens tournament: TBS?CBS/whoever else show all the games, and the fans can choose what they want to watch--what a concept! ESPN has more channels than anyone, yet they have way more important <sarcasm> to show than WCBB.
Rant over...

This was my first time watching a Delaware game this year and one word comes to my mind when I watch Delle Donne play on the offensive end: Sick!

Extremely talented player and I really hope to have the pleasure of watching her at the next level.

Depends how quickly Glory Johnson picks up fouls. Hard to guard EDD from the bench.
If she can get Glory in early foul trouble, that would be a big step to passing that test, wouldn't it? I didn't mean to say she couldn't pass it, just that it will be a real test of a sort she hasn't faced. One I would like very much to watch happen.

Tennessee's got a lot of length between Baugh, Stricklen, and Johnson. I think they can do a good enough job making EDD work for her points that they'll outscore Delaware.

This game turned into a blowout, but AR-LR could have been in position to be competitive going into the locker room at halftime but for poor FT shooting. Tennessee should have enough weapons to overcome UD...but that, as they say, is why we play the games.

EDD is cool... but ESPN is running the same story over and over and over again. GEEEEEEEEEEE WIZ!

Im sure Glory will get in foul trouble... whether is due to her rep or cause EDD gets the Jordan treatment, its in the eye of the beholder

I think this is a very fair comment,DC. Glory has a tendency to get herself into foul trouble against much lesser opponents.

PSU had several bigs including Nikki Greene, Talia East, Ariel Edwards, and Tori Waldner so it is not like she hasn't faced similar challenges.

so you're saying Glory's "elbow throwing rep" plays no part on how things may get called. If not, we shouldnt even be having this discussion. If her 'bows are up for debate on a message board Im sure the refs will be watching for it. Im sure an experienced crews will be watching the game.

why, the refs feel sorry for the lesser opponents? Why cant she do the same thing against all Div 1 players.

I use to feel bad about how Kaili got that treatment too... when she would set a screen against the lesser opponents.

ALR's coach made a horrible decision to provide no help defense on EDD. How in the world do you make that decision?

No, I was agreeing with you that Glory's reputation does have an impact, fair or unfair. She does, however, also, get herself into troubles, as well, swinging those elbows and given the way the rule is written now and its emphasis last year she receives little help from the refs. It is simply a fact that Glory has been in foul trouble this year against some lesser opponents whatever the cause.

I agree... it does "swing" both ways. I still would love to see Delaware vs Tn but not DWare nor Tn vs UConn.

too much of a circus BUT if it happens, it happens!

Yep, that is not in our control. Play on, girls!

I think Tenn is too big and physical for UDel, but if they play poorly, the LVs could lose. If EDD can get foul calls, it will really help. It is like giving UDel points, as she is nearly automatic. The key to defending Elena (and many players) is to crowd her, get physical, and deny her the spots she wants. If she gets open looks or FTs, her team will do very well. 39 points in her first NCAA game is pretty good. :)

Johnson almost always ends up in foul trouble against Baylor. She reminds me a lot of Peters...you can count on her for some dumb fouls in every game.

It was nice to see EDD on national tv. I had some of my high school freshmen (girls) team over, that I coach, to watch the game. EDD is smooth. I think some of my players were impressed with what they saw because they would not stop talking about EDD. I told them all season long that EDD is something special. Britney Griner is special as well. But you don't normally see a 6'5" player like EDD handle the rock so well, have a smooth jumper, can play all five spots, and defend. It was nice to see the rest of the world get a chance to see her on national tv.

Add CP Parker to the list ...I still think she is the very best to be seen on a womens court!!!!

Can't disagree with that. Her only weakness in college was long-distance shooting, but she sure could do everything else. I think Parker has a better handle than EDD and also is a a little better at finishing in the paint.

and a better defender
