Delaware and Tennessee in Bridgeport Regional?

I would love to see both Tenn and Del in Bridgeport. I didn't believe the selection committee would place UConn and Tenn in the same region as long as Summitt was still coaching. But now that she's retired, the committee may do it. It would generate some additional interest.

The scalpers who have a feast and ESPN would have their Dream. Tenn/Delleware and UConn vs either. Big Time money maker for everybody.

.-.
Would not shock me since it is all about the Benjamins and the ESPN ratings.

Difficult year to fill out the bracket. Almost nothing will surprise me.

Right you are, VG! By Monday night we will all have plenty to discuss/ponder/rant/bemoan. As they say, fasten your seatbelts, it's going to be a bumpy ride....

Don't want to see Tenn is UConn's bracket. ESPN & others would spend too much time on the history of both programs, Geno & Pats history etc. It would take away from the current team and all other teams in the tournament until the game was played.

Has Tenn in Notre Dame's Bracket. Would like to see that happen.:)

It would be so awesome to see Delaware and Tennessee in UCONN's bracket. Provided Tennessee made it past the 2 seed, it would be great to destroy them again!

I would love to see that game. Plus, when has ESPN ever run a story into the ground?

It would surely enliven the Bridgeport Regional; Creme's take is Bor-ing.

Does anyone have the patience to do the probable geography.

For all the knocks on the committee - justified in my opinion - since they put the geography scenarios in place they have been consistent. They might stretch it over minimal distances and for fan base reasons (i.e. by a few miles, Notre Dame technically belongs in Bridgeport, but that would defeat the whole geographic purpose). And Tennessee is (I think) a significant amount closer to Norfolk than Bridgeport. Of course, if someone else grabs that spot . . .

Deleware, if a 4 seed, will have to be placed geographically, and has certainly a significant chance at Bridgeport. If below a 4 seed, where it doesn't matter otherwise, I would expect them to be in the Bridgeport region just in case they advance that far, for the human interest.

The issue is whether Delaware has a high or low #4 seed. If high, then, yes, they'd probably get assigned to bport. If low, however, someone else would have been put there, and then del would be sent elsewhere. And then there are other considerations having to do with keeping conference members away from each other and balancing the brackets, which can trump geography.

Your second point is well taken.

I suppose Deleware is mid-way between Bridgeport and Norfolk, but don't know for sure.

I was really referring to the geography for Tennessee, I don't see it off-hand, but have some other things I am heading off to do.

In any bracket Delaware never gets past the second round.

On their home court, really? They beat Penn State there last year with a weaker team, and this year probably would have beat Maryland at home if it hadn't been EDD's first game back and one in which she was still clearly very weak. I'd hate to be a 5-seed paying a road game at UD.

Delaware had a very shaky outing against a really lousy UNC Wilmington team. If I were a
Blue Hen fan I would be concerned that my team might not make the Sweet 16, let alone
advance far enough to meet UConn.

Tennessee is much closer to Norfolk.

Im not sure i would bet on tenn ending up in Norfolk. I think they are the #9 team, and putting them there would mean # 2-5-9 at that site. The committee tries to balance the sum of the four seeds across the sites, and even with the # 16 team, it would still be a tough bracket. Certainly could happen but it's another reason bracketing is tricky this year.

I am confused as to why Penn State is in Spokane in the projection. Based on geography or balance it makes no sense.

Also don't understand why Maryland, a team ranked in the top 10 all season, is a 4 seed and a mediocre Nebraska team that hasn't is a 3 seed.

And Maryland went to Nebraska early in the season and thumped them pretty good if i remember correctly

Creme actually ranks MD #11 and NE 13, but swaps their seeds because it was the only way he could get his bracket to work.
