December General CBB Discussion Thread (Non-BE)

If anybody is watching the Indiana/Kentucky game at Rupp..........Vitale & Charles Barkley are doing the game and Chuck just gave UConn a nice shoutout.

He was mentioning what a great experience it was playing in Rupp for the first time and basically said anybody wearing the Kentucky jersey should have pride considering the tradition of great basketball.

Chuck then mentioned other programs like UNC, Kansas, Duke, Indiana, UConn, and UCLA with championship traditions.

We have achieved Barkley blue blood status.

Thanks for the correction. Chuck mentioned it pretty quickly, so I didn't recall the exact language he used.

He's always been very complimentary of our program!

He missed FTs but they won and he single handedly made that happen - I get your point, but tough to call what I just watched a choke.
An 80% ft shooter missing the front end of a 1 and 1 twice in a row in the last 20 seconds is a choke. I know he had a great game up until that point but he's lucky NC State didn't capitalize.

Really? Each round of the tournament in 2014 he basically shook his head at Kenny Smith’s positive take on UConn… and then Chuck proceeded to pick our opponent to win.

For a "basketball" school, Maryland sure has a lot of empty seats for a game that opens the B1G season against the #2 team in the nation.

Maryland certainly has a game plan. Don't go inside and shoot 60% from three, while getting the long rebounds on misses.

Maryland just lost their best player and bigman vs Mich's frontcourt so the chances at an upset got lower

Michigan might have the highest ceiling of anyone in the country. But the true best teams will combine that high ceiling with consistency. For me, that’s where I still have lots of questions for them. Now, they might go on to blow UMD out (it’s a close game right now towards the end of the first half), but if they don’t it’ll be the third time this year they let a team vastly inferior on paper to them go toe-to-toe. I don’t think we’ve necessarily done that, unless you want to stretch the definition and count Texas.

And of course as I type that Payne goes down for the Terps. Michigan should certainly roll them from here.

I watched a little of the Villanova game and Michigan looked like they were from another planet. Villanova was lucky to even get a shot off.

In this one, it feels like two equal teams going toe to toe (for now - second half may be a different story). Coit going off for Maryland is a bit of an outlier - but Michigans guards have pretty much hit every 3 they’ve taken too.

it's a conference road game, you're probably going to see UConn in these same type of games vs teams folks on this board swear they're about to run through and blow out
