Who put the $22M figure out there? Was it UK themselves or the Field of 68 guys babbling?
Yeah I cannot believe anyone paid $22 million for this team. Could it be Japanese yen?

How many guys are out for Kentucky? I don't even know most of these players. How could they spend $22 million on these guys? Down big early to Gonzaga.
Not sure if this has been posted already or even if it’s accurate

Word is Kentucky offered Braden Smith upwards of 10million this season

Fortunately, Smith is a Boilermaker and is having a fantastic season

UK fans are like Cowboy fans. They are living on the glory of 9 titles most of which were before any of them were born and still believe they are THEE ELITE program in basketball.
8 titles. 😉

Pope is a top notch really great guy. He understands the program. Just way too big of a job for him.

that job needs someone with a very tough, jerk like personality.

Or they need to change their recruiting mantra. When you recruit multimillion dollar primadonnas it should be no surprise when they turn out to not give a damm about the program.

Pope was in a hard spot, he followed Cal and had almost no real HS recruiting runway. In a win now environment, he thought he could go out and build a mercenary team he could install in his spaced system. Year one, makes sense. Year two, probably time to try start building that core of HS recruits. He has been in on a lot, but he's wiffed on a lot of them because I think they worry he's heavy portal guys. He lost Caleb Wilson to UNC. They've been heavy on Stokes, but after this you wonder if Stokes goes elsewhere.

He had Acadien Lewis, and he likely backed out for that reason. This could have been a year where he started Lewis, Johnson and Malachi and stuck in a couple younger portal guys to build culture. Instead he has a giant hemmorage of expensive older portal guys that are just happy with their checks.

Watching Duke vs MSU. I have arena and crowd envy. Wish Gampel were larger and allowed for a bigger student section

Boy was I wrong about MSU. I’m still not in love with their roster. Shout out to Izzo

From what I hear Kentucky and Louisiville are the main contenders for Stokes (back home schools).

If he doesn't go home it's probably Kansas.

Even though I wonder if him now being in Seattle will lead to Oregon getting more love.

This is kind of it. There is a big difference between a kid that is coming to be part of something special and the experience and development, vs coming for the buck. It doesn't help that Pope paid out kids that were only going to be ready for half the season at best (JQ), which sends a weird message. Now there is talk of him possibly not coming back to play for this dysfuntional team, and because he's a lotto pick.

This applies to both HS and portal. The danger of bringing on a kid like DP for instance, who knows he's a top 2 pick. They have an injury and nurse that thing endlessly.

They play hard - have a couple special athletes, but still not a team that scores well.

I hope this win gets Autry a 10+ year contract extension.
Maybe it is written in his contract that he gets an extension as long as they beat a ranked team at least once every 5 years

I gotta be honest, I watch Purdue and while they are certainly good, they really don't scare me. Smaller guards who are not very physical, not unbelievably quick, especially in the low box. I think UConn matches up very well with them.

Boozer with 2 pts at the half and Dook down 3.
The more I watch him the more I'm kind of unimpressed by a 6’9-6’10 PF with not elite athleticism.

More and more I'm starting to not see a franchise guy at the next level.

Hey, they're only down 10 at halftime. For BCU, that's probably a step forward. I'm sure all eight of their fans in attendance at Conte Mausoleum are thrilled.

Watching this on ESPN+. It is burning my eyes.

This board acted like St Johns is an NIT team because they had a nail biter close loss to this Iowa St team on a neutral floor
