December General CBB Discussion Thread (Non-BE)

I don't have any love for STJ, I despise them, I just see that their season is playing out not all that much different than last year. You add one more lmao you might be assless going into the new year
Based on what? Rick Pitino? LMAOOOOO. The BE sucks. So congrats to them for beating up on PC and Villanova

This board acted like St Johns is an NIT team because they had a nail biter close loss to this Iowa St team on a neutral floor

Depaul could lose by 2 to the Oklahoma City Thunder on the road and posters on this board would use that game as evidence the Big East is down.

My complaint is that they underperform against OOC ranked teams when they're in high-profile games, and then they find their groove against the Big East, which hurts the conference NET. They're not an NIT team. But I'm not betting on them to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament, either.

I've seen Joe Lunardi types (not sure if it was him specifically) pick UConn to get knocked out in the second round and St. John's to make the Elite Eight, and I don't get why that would seem likely.

From what I hear Kentucky and Louisiville are the main contenders for Stokes (back home schools).

If he doesn't go home it's probably Kansas.

Even though I wonder if him now being in Seattle will lead to Oregon getting more love.
Well Oregon has the $$$.

You bastards jinxed it! Big run by the plucky Eagles. The whole ACC is struggling against mediocre teams at home (not counting Duke at MSU).

This may be the worst basketball game ever played, anywhere in the world.

Mamcilovic probably plays more like an NBA player than any player I've seen this season. Size and shoots the cover off the ball all over the court. Hand in his face doesn't matter, one footed step backs...

Purdue is still too unathletic to win it all.

Purdue is incredibly unathletic and really doesn't have great bigs. Again, I just think they are very beatable. The way they win is making 3s at a high rate. Getting taken to the woodshed on their home floor by Iowa St.

Type of guy the Miami Heat drafts . Smart, has size and can shoot

Wild that Purdue is out of timeouts with over 10 minutes remaining, this Iowa State performance the most impressive of the season considering it's a true road game

Only one up there is Purdue @ Bama.

UConn @Kansas and Arizona @Uconn are in the next tier

The more I watch him the more I'm kind of unimpressed by a 6’9-6’10 PF with not elite athleticism.

More and more I'm starting to not see a franchise guy at the next level.
Yeah he’s a tough call - not a lot of verticality with him, but he’s a smart and strong kid. He’s kind of like his dad, more traditional 4.

Incredible how the refs allow a LOT of contact from Duke defensively. I am stunned at times how much contact they allow. Bumping, reaching in, and minimal calls.

Thing is he can shoot 3s and put it on the deck. Tough cover. If UConn plays them, who guards him? Karaban, who can play him on the perimeter but may get cooked inside. Reed, who will struggle to cover him off the bounce because you have to defend the 3 ball with him. Ditto Reibe. He is not an easy cover. Key is you have to go after him offensively. Make him defend.

Surprised he’s not on boards. He’s currently shooting 55% from 3.

Agree / the little guards are easy to defend.

I mean Purdue is getting taken to the woodshed on their home floor. Frankly, an ominous sign for them.

I can see Momcilovic having a productive NBA career. He was killing St. John's in the game at Las Vegas.
Useless anecdote: My wife loved the conversation she had with Momcilovic's sister while waiting in line for the women's bathroom in Maui as they talked about the tournament and what they would do in Maui.
