There were five: Ware, DeBerry, Wolfenbarger, Reese, and Westbeld.Who were the final 3 to make it? I think there were 4 vying for that last spot? who got cut? Who are the coaches (I'm sure i could look it up but i'm betting a fellow BY'er has the info at their fingertips!!!)...
Regardless, Congrats to the entire team and especially to Azzi and Amari!! It will be a great experience for them!
With Reese and Westbeld withdrawing their names from further consideration the committee had no choice but to give the last 3 spots to the last 3 available players one of which was Amari. Great opportunity for her!Great achievement for Amari, that I must confess surprised me just a little. I hope she keeps on surprising all of us with her achievements over the next 4 years.
To quote Woody Allen, “80% of success in life is just showing up.”With Reese and Westbeld withdrawing their names from further consideration the committee had no choice but to give the last 3 spots to the last 3 available players one of which was Amari. Great opportunity for her!
The team will train from July 21-27 before traveling to Europe for the FIBA U19 World Cup, scheduled to be held Aug. 7-19 in Debrecen, Hungary. When are these games? How much time will and AD miss, if any?
edit: I just saw the above flyer with dates.
Will be interesting to see the final 3 pt stats between Caitlin and Azzi both in efficiency and volume.Much success to Amari and the whole USA team. Perhaps
Caitlin Clark will be MVP? on fire? GO AZZI!
P.S. GO Aaliyah , Oh, Canada!!
Aaliyah is on the Olympic team, not the U19 team.Much success to Amari and the whole USA team. Perhaps

Amari's confidence does not need boosting.Huge step for Amari! Hopefully this will boost her confidence in her fight for minutes as a UCONN freshman.
Seriously though, this should help even if all she does is practice against the other big players there. Should be competitive.I assume Dorka has given them the low down on the best restaurants in Budapest for goulash and chicken paprikash. So Amari and Azzi are Hungary Huskies?
I can’t read poprikash without thinking of Billy Crystal in when Harry Met Sally.I assume Dorka has given them the low down on the best restaurants in Budapest for goulash and chicken paprikash.
I don't know how much they'll be allowed to venture around the city. From what I understand, FIBA requires the teams to maintain bubbles while at the tournament, similar to the Americup.I assume Dorka has given them the low down on the best restaurants in Budapest for goulash and chicken paprikash.
I assumed as much. As information, Hungary allows for full fan attendance at concerts and sports venues, provided fans are vaccinated and show a vaccine card for admittance.I don't know how much they'll be allowed to venture around the city. It's a shame too as I've heard the city is beautiful and travelling is a fringe benefit of playing for a national team.
At least there will be fans in the stands to watch. That's one aspect of the Olympics will be lacking, even though it's for good reason.I assumed as much. Hungry Hungary Huskies! So Amari and Azzi are Hungary Huskies?
