Death Storm redux

So final verdict, about 12-14” easy (may be more) of snow (and it’s still flurrying). Two turns with the snowblower and more than 50% of town without power, possibly for days, because trees snapped everywhere. It looks like a war-zone from what I’ve heard with major roads closed. Anyone that enjoys this shit is seriously demented.

Where are you? Wow.

Very western part of Albany County NY. At about 1,700’ and the elevation has an significant impact on snowfall and temps.

It’s funny because I was looking at pictures recently from 7 years ago where we had more than 6’ of snow in a week and I said to my wife “we don’t really get good snow anymore” - to quote the big orange “wrong”

West of us (Richmondville, NY) got 40” on Friday

I love snow, but let’s move it along at this point and get into spring. Snow this late just makes for a horrendous mud season.

Where are you at? In Glastonbury we've got power, but lots of snow. Haven't heard branches fall but they're all weighed down towards the ground.
North Jersey.

Got lucky again. Patterns are definitely changing. We used to get clobbered all the time, but the past few years have been weak. Maybe 8-9”, at 860’ elevation.

About 5-6" in Stratford of the heaviest snow I have ever encountered.

It's like shoveling mud. Good luck with opening schools tomorrow with no sidewalks cleared.

My wife's grandfather lives in Schenevus. He's down in Mississippi for the winter though and is aching to go home. Not happening for a while.

How much do like your neighbors?
Its not like lawn mowing; those unwritten rules don't apply. My plow guy usually gets here about 4 AM after his commercial jobs and nobody complains. This snow is heavy as hell.

You can't make this up. I know people in this state who have lost power once in 20 years . I lose it 4 times a year at least. I'm so done with this jerkwater town. 15 more months and I'm gone. I hate it here .
I'll have power back in 10 days I'm sure.

I’m safely tucked away in Floreda readying for the AAC tourney action.
When did you get out? My friends flight was cancelled and he can't get out until tomorrow am now. They better win today.

Somehow they have power which is a miracle but no plow guy yet.

I have a young able bodied teen boy here right now. He can shovel you out.Get this. To rub additional salt in my wound, I get home from work yesterday and my 16 year old daughter's boyfriend was over because of snow day so they were just hanging and watching movies and stuff.
I yell at my wife for this because I see the writing on the wall and she says " oh no, the dad's coming to pick him up after dinner"

Sure enough an hour later the guy cant make it out on the roads and their power was out already in deep River.

So I got stuck having a sleepover with my daughter's boyfriend here.

I slept on recliner in my den in between the family room couch I put the kid on and the stairs to my daughter's room. I didn't get much sleep.

But I have the two of them shoveling right now.

Did I mention I hate Chester?

Lost power in Shelton from 7:30 pm to 12:30 am. No power at work in Monroe. Both generators are running but the transfer switches both failed.

I'm in Shelton too. Never lost power. Have a pine tree that's all but destroyed from snapping branches. Lucky I guess.

How early is too early to fire up the snowblower?
I can answer that as far as I am concerned. Last year in March we caught heck with that March Nor'easter. We got slammed here in Central PA. Because what was forecast I started early. I was snow blowing while it was coming down. I must of snow blowed 4 times that day. No way was I going to start when it ended. Five o'clock it ended and all the neighbors came out. Our Township then started to plow. When he came down our street he made sure he didn't snow us in. He would of been dragged out his truck and tar and feathered. If you were not out side in your driveway, he didn't care. Four feet snow wall in front of your driveway is not fun.

My driveway is 600 ft long. If you want him dead it’s the perfect task.

Nothing like an extra squatter during an uncomfortable night.
