Believe it or not, that account is from the Syracuse Post-Standard. Too bad the horde aren't fanbois and fangals like this.

The Horde is a bunch of fan boys...just for other programs.

I always thought Daniels was so quick for a big man that if he could improve his shooting, he would be a lock for a long NBA career as a 6 to 8 guy in a rotation.

The vertical from the combine still baffles me. 32" max. How can a guy that quick and smooth have such a mediocre vertical?

If Chris Bosh returns to Toronto, DD would make a perfect understudy for him.

DD kinda screwed himself… you don't leave early to go #37. With another solid year he could have easily cracked the 1st round and maybe lottery territory with a ridiculous year. He did himself a disservice by going out early and not getting that guaranteed money..
This argument needs to be put to bed. There is no reason to think he would have improved his stock rather than worsened it if he'd stayed another year. I'd like to have him back, too, but he got drafted, he'll have a chance and he did as much for UConn as anyone could have asked.

Damn i forgot about CJ. Cuse has more undrafted top 100 players than anyone else, I would guess at this point.

If you saw how he struggled to finish through contact at the rim, the mediocre athleticism wouldn't surprise you. His lack of strength starts from the legs up. No strength, no vertical.

We said the exact same thing at the end of last year - "DeAndre's going to be a monster next year and play his way into the lottery." He wasn't a monster but he was pretty damn good, and that ended up not being good enough to get into the first round. You have no idea if he'd be a first round pick next year. Look at CJ Fair.

In all likelihood, DeAndre will be signing a contract this summer that will pay him $500k next year and over $800k the year after that. And the thing that he'll be paid to do is the thing that he's been dreaming about his entire life.

He was on his way to being a monster before the high ankle sprain. Think about it. He played pretty well into January. Had a bad February where he missed half the games and then looked rusty when he came back. He was great in March.

Really impressive . I think I agree with jay bilas , there was clear first round talent deep into the second round .

DD worked out with Toronto and they really liked him from what I've heard. I think he has a good chance of making the team.

Great for Deandre! Rooting for him big time to make the roster and make an impact. Look at how long it took Lamb to latch on. Jeremy spent some time in the D league. So did Dyson. I'm not saying Deandre will end up there, but he's following his dream and UCONN nation is behind him 100%.

BTW, I've not read any articles on where he expected to go. If his reason for jumping early was to go in the first round and get more money, then it didn't work out and he probably should have come back. BUT he's likely going to be making $500K? I'd almost kill someone for that salary. Go get 'em, Deandre!

LOL and Ennis got drafted because he hit one prayer buzzer-beater. Even he admits that's the main reason he started getting attention.

That is something that can be corrected at the next level, if he wants it. You can be sure personnel will be all over him.

I wish DD all the success and hope he's a ten year pro! Except for maybe 8-10 guys in this class its more or less same odds if a pick makes it as a pro. DD is in this sample set and his chance of getting stronger and finding a place in the NBA is as good as the rest. He was a great Husky and we won a Championship because of his level of play. What more can you ask.

Going in the top 40 in this draft is nothing to sneeze at, DD made the right choice. He went before a lot of higher profile guys, he's showed that he has the talent and I believe that he will stick around and be a solid NBA player.

Another year in college would not have guaranteed a higher draft pick, he's ready now.

Raptors GM pretty much said that DD will be either in the D-League or overseas this season. Bummer.

not really , he was a second round pick. ALL second round picks have to prove their worth in summer league/ training camp. pretty standard, also if he had no chance of making the team they wouldn't have picked him at 37. toronto isn't an organization looking for quick salary dumps etc in the second round, could have easily gone international and stashed if so.

I'll say because he relies on finesse more so than power in his game
