I would like to see Reed, Karaban, Diarra, Nowell, McNelley as starting 5. it is the only 5 I think that have any shot of playing defense. Given this year looks like a lost year, time to play Nowell more. Maybe with both Nowell and Diarra applying pressure we can do something.

If I hear one more UConn fan complain about the foul disparity, I am going to tap their heads to a television monitor and force them to watch our defense on a loop.

We do not have one player, save Diarra, who even approaches competence defensively.

Also, I really love when teams have point guards because when they don’t, they lose to Dayton by 500 points and finish last in Hawaiian tournaments.
Foul discrepancy doesn't explain letting our opponents shoot 50% from the field every night. Hurley and co has Titanic sized holes to plug.

At this point it’s downright embarrassing… how you come back as defending national champs in the transfer portal era and put up three lackluster performances against mid tier teams then get smoked by freaking Dayton. Like I know it’s a ridiculous thing to complain about optics after winning two championships but this is really poor, and I don’t think it’s a talent problem

Hurley has been on tour all summer talking about three peat, have to wonder if the team got a big head. Wake up call for sure
Because you get a big head and refuse to give up on a high prospect who never panned out (Sampson) and think you can turn an average catch and shoot 2 guard into your next PG (Mahaney)

We're in for a long season, that is obvious. Defense nonexistent, live by the 3 die by the 3 offense, nonstop fouling.

I don't know how salvageable this season is tbh. We now have as many losses as we did all of last season.

Could not have predicted this meltdown in my wildest dreams. Maybe the most troubling stat in this game was getting demolished on the boards.
Team completely fell apart after we closed to within 2-3. Never seen a Hurley team fold like that. Even Creighton last year, we fought till the end. Tonight was embarrassing.

No. It wasn't an issue last year. We foul like crazy because we're currently playing 4-5 turnstiles on the court at all times
It wasn’t an issue bc we had one of the 20 best defensive players in NCAA history as our defensive anchor.

If Hurley’s system only works when we have a 7’2 defensive god playing for us, than idk if it’s a good strategy

The million interviews with Hurley talking about three-peating was fun but I get the sense from Hurley on down this team loved the smell of their own farts the entire off-season. The sum is shockingly so much less than the parts.

Our defense is atrocious, you simply can't win games with the defense we play. The staff probably should've focused on defense while they were busy perfecting the offense. The offense is also a huge mess but nothing like the D.

Hurley has no clue what his rotation is. He had Mahaney and Nowell playing together. Then at one point he went with no guards. He stressed all off-season and up until today that the strength of the team is our great wings. What does having depth at wing matter when you play Liam the whole time when he's hurt and missing everything and you have Jaylin plastered to the bench. Jaylin gets the short end of the stick every game. He got four seconds of action in the second half and missed a shot before being benched. How dare he miss a shot.

Solo can shoot threes, that's it. He's a huge liability on defense and does nothing other than shoot threes on offense. Hass plays his heart out but he's meant to be a backup point guard/energy guy off the bench. Karaban looks great if he's hitting threes, otherwise he's a ghost. Only thing Samson is good at is alley oops and blocking shots but he usually fouls on his block attempts. Everything else is a liability with him. Jaylin is inexplicably in the doghouse. Ross and Mahaney provide nothing. Where was Tarris Reed?

The last two years were amazing but Hurley probably needed this humble pie. Something miraculous has to happen or this team isn't making the tournament. I'm already at peace with it. I didn't think we would win this game going into it but the way we played leaves a very bad taste.

On to Thanksgiving, enjoy your Turkey and ketchup.

Doubt this was your opinion a month ago.

Another Hurley denier? I’ve got a list going….
