OT: Daniel Jones MVP

I am an annoyed Giants fan. Been a long run of total crap. I always liked Jones and know he was not an above average QB but Giants did him no favors. Hope he plays well for Colts.

What I dont get is why not just play Dart now. Every other team does it. I know the line sucks but who can say they will improve it. They are going no where wit Wilson and at least Dart can get some experience and its not difficult to determine if you have something or not. And if they are going to "ruin" him he probably does not have that something anyway. Lets at least make the season interesting. Yesterday was just atrocious and uninteresting. Sick of being out of playoff race by October 10th but if we are lets take a look at future. Maybe they catch lightning in a bottle and salvage the season.
I understand your(my) frustration and would like to see Dart out there but… should he be exposed to the massive hits and body damage that will surely follow? Daniel Jones was absolutely hammered during his Giants career and frankly did well often enough even with that lack of protection.
Dart being young just wants to be out there and doesn’t care about that risk understandably but the size and strength of these defenders in today’s game is different IMO.
There was a reason Tom Brady was as great and successful as he was besides his throwing accuracy and it was that wall that allowed him to stand in the pocket, have a cup of coffee and survey his targets…at leisure. When he was pressured even he had problems but Belichek knew what was important and got him protected.

Nah, he was pretty awful. This revisionist history is hilarious.

My sense is that 2025 Daniel Jones was created by playing behind that line. Putting Dart in there might just do the same or worse he gets badly injured. I can’t understand why the Giants can’t draft o linemen

The best quarterbacks who are under a lot of pressure don’t look so good and Jones was hammered, sacked and rushed on his passes basically his whole career. We will see if he gets that protection and what happens now. Whoever the Giants put back there will have the same problem but the other aspect is the effect having a crappy running game due to that O line and the effect on the Giant’s passing game and that has also been forever,

It was well known that you had to get a few hits on Brady early and keep pressure up even if you didn’t get sacks

It’s been 1 week. Are we being serious right now?
It doesn't matter if it's 1 week the Giants don't deserve to get the benefit of the doubt until proven otherwise. The Chiefs, Ravens, and Lions have earned that right not the Giants.

You moved on from Jones definetly the right decision, now where's the improvement on the offense? We're in year 4 here with Daboll and Schoen. We'll see what happens Thursday.

I didn’t say there was improvement on offense, I said Jones still sucks

One thing is for sure. Jones solidified the fact that Anthony Richardson is an afterthought on the Colts and, barring injury, might never see the field in their uniform again.

I think Anthony is talented and under the right tutledge I think he can flourish.i would trade a late pick for him.

In the ridiculously early nfl start to the season. Hey maybe Daniel Jones wasn't “the problem” but maybe it’s the Giants organization. Was it the right move to move on from Jones yes. It’s not his fault the Mara’s tried to convince the fanbase that he’s the next Eli. Was he supposed to turn down a 160 million dollar contract?

Has always been a likeable guy never threw a teammate under the bus. He actually did win get the only playoff win for the Giants since 2011, and yes he literally won that game himself pretty much, against a 13 win Vikings team on the road. Yes the Giants needed to move on but fans saying he’s the worst Giants qb ever, umm hello Dave Brown, Danny Kannell, Kent Graham.

I see Giants fans are so pissed to see the Giants still be the Giants ok understood, but to see Jones have success too why lol. It makes the Giants organization look bad it’s not a reflection on you personally. I really don’t get too emotionaly connected to professional sports anymore, fans are toxic not to say college fans can’t be toxic and UConn fans aren’t exempt from it either. I’m still beyond pissed losing to Cuse.

So who’s better Daniel Jones now or a 37 year old Russell Wilson, again not questioning the decision it is really about Jackson Dart moving forward as Russ is a stop gap qb. Not a good day for the Giants moving on from Jones and putting up 6 pts while Jones looks like an mvp. I get it’s really about future moving forward.

Decent trolling but if you meant any of what you wrote, oof man.

It's difficult to overstate how badly the Dolphins' secondary played Sunday....

That's the story of the Colts-Dolphins game: a woefully undermanned secondary running into a deep pass-catching corps with a strong schemer at head coach. I cannot generate any meaningful takeaways about the starting quarterback, good or bad. Jones had a classic point guard game. He threw well to his first read when open, including a beautiful deep out-breaker to Adonai Mitchell with anticipation, but didn't do much damage through his progressions. He was fine as a scrambler, as always.

That's the thing about Jones: if there's no Plan A, he skips Plans B, C and D and proceeds directly to Plan E: run. No progressions.

I didn't say that you said that I just brought that up brought up (where's the improvement in the offense), because the time to show the improvement in the offense is now. Jones sucks and he's not here , now what, you moved on now. So now it's time to put up or shut up in year 4.

Reason #1 why I personally think it would be a mistake to play Dart right now. Remember David Carr on Houston? Getting sacked 5-6 times/game for two seasons straight (and hit even more often) completely derailed his career.

Don't discount the effect Washington's Defense had on Russ-Wil. The Giants were more or less one-dimensional. Washington's defense is drastically improved from a year ago and as I said yesterday, the D-Line has been totally revamped and there is a star in the making in the Secondary. Green Bay's O-line is head and shoulders above the Giants', but this Thursday's game in Green Bay will be telling in terms of a benchmark for Washington's D.

What are you basing that on? He hasn't had a single minute on the field to show that and has looked all the part of a complete bust since leaving college.

Trolling a bit but have I said anything that is wrong here? All I did was point out facts that Jones put up 33 pts, and the Giants put up 6. Yes I know the Dolphins are trash and yes Washington is a much better team and I get it's week 1.

I'm just pointing out how bad the Giants are. They suck until they prove that they don't. Daniel Jones was a problem but the Giants are the problem.

Honestly could care less about Jones failing or succeeding, I just care about the Giants being good again.

Washington is a good team. Nobody is expecting the Giants to be great this year; we're looking for improvement on both sides of the ball and hoping to get Dart some reps and that he'll be ready next season.

Jones had no future with the Giants and any Giants fan who regrets dropping Jones doesnt know much about football. I don't think you think that, you're just stirring the pot.

If you wanted to say Jones wasn't the only problem and the Giants didn't magically get better by dropping him, so stipulated.
