OK, point taken....How's this: I agree, however, I think that each probably screwed up their respective chances to 1) stay in the NBA and 2) make bigger bucks. Do you like that better? Geeze...
 
Ray after his freshman year would nothave been one and done today, maybe Hamilton, Oak don’t know. These guys were all different and much better players by end of year 3.

They were two undersized point guards. The rest of those named didn't have the same sort of questions regarding their physical adaptability to the league as Kemba and Bazz had.
 
There is only one player to play at UConn who would/could be a legit one and done - A Drummond
All the others needed at least 2 years of college ball to bring their physical growth and level of play up NBA acceptable levels
I missed one - according to Dickie V and crew - Ajou Deng

He's made $1.4 million. That's like getting out of college and getting a job worth $140k a year for 10 years. He should be set up for a pretty good life.

Yet in all six players' cases they stayed the extra year and benefited greatly from it both on the collegiate and professional levels

I'm rarely amazed anymore by the stupidity of the stuff posted here, but the number of posters who seem supremely confident players would have dramatically developed with more years of coaching by Kevin Ollie is actually amazing.
 
Ray Allen, Rip Hamilton and Kemba Walker played for Jim Calhoun.

Daniel Hamilton played for Kevin Ollie.

That's not relevant to the stay in college crowd?

The stats dont lie.

These guys need serious financial education and smart financial advisors.

Two of the most unique players in UCONN history? Banking on that kind of transformation is not a good idea.

Hamilton would have had to learn how to shoot dead eye. And somehow become more athletic to boot.

If he's making 100k a year to play basketball, he's killing it. Most recent grads are making fractions of that. And we know he's making a fair bit more anyway.

He will lose at least 1/2 in taxes and agent fees. So $700,000 clear.

700K is still a lot of money for 1 year. Even if he's playing in Europe for the next 10 years that sets him up nicely

He got bigger and stronger from his freshman to sophomore year. He improved as a player from his freshman to sophomore year. He obviously could've done the same from his sophomore to junior year. It's ridiculous to say that a player especially a very talented player like Hamilton couldn't become a more consistent shooter on the collegiate level. He also has a very unique skill set. He could've definitely put himself in the first round with a big junior year and positioned himself for a better professional career.

Damn near everybody improves from freshman to sophomore year across college basketball (leaving aside comments on our program the last few years). That's not unique.

Shooting is shooting. He's gotten way more practice and help shooting at the pro level than he could at college. And he's still not a good shooter.

We weren't going to shine in the NCAAs. And that's how most those other players got their biggest draft bumps. We stunk. And we were going to stink.

I know you love UConn hoops but you're wrong here. DHam would've got better and there's no telling how good the team and he could've been if he came back. The same goes for Daniels. Everything you're saying is assuming the negative when the players before DHam stepped into some really negative spots especially Kemba and Bazz.

Daniels was (arguably) the second best player on the national champions and a junior who I think may have even been an older junior. He wasn’t really “pro-ready” but I’m sure he felt he had nothing left to prove in college.

The KO years will mostly do that to you. I'm usually pretty middle of the road.

I just know that for better or for worse, success in the NCAA tournament often has a big effect on draft status. It certainly has for our guys.
