Just a reminder, from the brilliant insight of @UofCT2009, that the reason we have a losing record last year is because of just one person- our 2nd leading scorer, 2nd best rebounder, best 3 pt shooter and leader in steals.
It really sucks having decent players come back for the senior year doesn't it

He's just about as bad as Earl Kelley (38-46) and Cliff Robinson (41-49) were heading into their senior years.

Why make this personal?
This happens too much here, I agree. Let's be adults. Hey, I don't agree with you in regards to vital but I'll keep it civil. Mods? Clean some of the attacks up here and elsewhere? And it is nothing against the people who made the attacks but those types of posts just aren't needed. We are all UConn fans first and foremost, so we, all of us, already have one thing in common.

Any way, I am super happy to see vital come back, he will help the freshmen to adapt and serve as a leader. I think the freshmen are all talented and will inject some excitement back into the program, in the process helping vital obtain an overall winning record during his four years here.

When did it become a thing to celebrate a player returning who wouldn’t be drafted if the draft was 5 rounds. I like him fine and wish him great success but he wouldn’t be 5th team All UConn. If he bailed on graduation and his last year of eligibility then it would be monumentally stupid. I see this as him writing a letter saying he’s not going to make a really stupid decision, and it is wholly unnecessary. Is this just the new norm of dealing with millennials?
100% Agree. Vital is a good player and a great leader for the team but this is a pretty narcissistic move: if he were a borderline draft pick it would be one thing, but he was worse this year than his sophomore year.

Welcome back for another season CV! We need your toughness and lessons learned experience. Work on your 3 this summer.
The next 2 weeks are going to be a busy time. The water is still flowing through the dam break and more rain is expected next week.
Best Regards,
Chief

Go on...
He disappeared in games a lot more this year. I felt he was more clutch last year and even his freshmen year.

So nothing quantifiable then?
Don't know. Didn't check them. He didn't make as big an impact this year as last. Scoring 15 pts and game vs. 10 doesn't matter if you score most of them in garbage as opposed to late situations.

And now looking at the stats he was better his sophomore year statistically in the majority of areas including turnovers, points, ft%.

So just to get this straight, you haven't looked at any stats but Vital was worse this year? Got it

Vital was better this season, just look at the teams record :)

Junior year fg% was better 45.3% vs 38.3%, 3 pt % was better 40.9% vs 31.8%, ft% was similar (81.3% vs 84.6%), rebounds were higher in fewer minutes, assists were up, assist:turnover ratio went above 1.0 from below 1.0. The gain in shooting percentage alone is a substantial benefit to the team.

And the marginal descrease in points was with a lower USG%. Undoubtedly better season

True, but he didn't take nearly as many shots. So hence my point, he would disappear in games. If he was as involved in the game as much this year as last he would have scored 18-19 points/game.
