Creighton Post Game

Still something I wish he could clean up. Yes to this point in a down year for the conference, he has made one more basket per 50 attempts than did Adama in ‘23. Let’s not forget Adama also took 52 3s

In the tournament Adama was 67.5% from the field and 77% from the line
Adama went from inefficient on two pointers to incredibly efficient in his final season shooting .637% from two. Tarris has always been incredibly efficient from two as a UConn player and he's shooting .645% from two this season.

It's fair to get on Tarris for his terrible ft shooting but getting on him for ugly attempts and turnovers is silly. He leads the conference in field goal %.

@PC last year is what I've been hoping from Tarris, more often. He was dominant and had urgency. Samson was a really nice change of pace, rim runner. It was hard to have a starting 5 that couldn't rebound - I think you could acknowledge that. Tarris has all the makings of a dominant 5, if he wanted to be.
PC had no real center is why

Now look up and down this years BE, Ben Gold? Isaac Traudt?
Issac Traudt isn't their starting center. Green is and he's actually pretty good, he just shouldnt be playing center. I'd take him as a AK replacement next year with Pierce.

Ben Gold sucks. But Taris did drop 13-10-3 on him in 22 minutes.

Green is a forward.

Look at BE centers outside of the top 3 teams. It could be the worst collection of centers the BE has ever seen. Does Butler even have a center? DePaul? These teams have PF at center, 6'8" type centers. Tarris should be crushing this conference.

Question, do you think its a flaw of the guys around him that a guy shooting 64% from the field is only getting 9 fg attempts a game? Is a small percentage of this on Taris? Sure. He doesn't always do the best job establishing position. But I think this team lacks guys who can make proper entry pass outside of Alex and Silas. Adama had Alex, Tristen and Ajax in one starting lineup. Donovan had Tristen, Cam, Alex, and Steph. The former is really 2 PG's with AJax being a point forward, and the latter is literally 3 NBA level pgs. Taris doesn't have that luxury. 2/5 of his starting line up (solo, and Braylon) are looking for their shot 80% of the time. I think its no mistake when Stewie shares the floor with Taris instead of Solo and Braylon he gets more looks. Big men can't get themselves the ball the way guards do. If were going to have a fair and honest discussion we have to place a big part of the blame on the teammates not giving him the ball enough. If you want him to score more tell his teammates to give him the ball. His 64% shows he will convert

Watch Tarris post and seal - it's not just about the guards. A guy in the post has to find ways to post with intention, so the guards have chemistry with him. I've seen them look him off too many times because they didn't see him as a clean target.

Tarris has been "fine". You say he's firing on all cylinders based on his stat line, which is where you lose cred. Guy should be 18/10 and first team All BE slam dunk based on weakness of league, his team and physical advantages.

Taris has been fine. I don't think I've ever used the term "firing on all cylinders". Its not just his stat line, its his advanced metrics. You continue to ignore the defensive side of the ball. I wont. It was never going to be a slam dunk, Zuby plays his same position. And in the preseason you projected him to be better than Taris, I remember.

Finally, you lose all credibility when you ignore everything I just said, which is fact, and solely blame it on Taris. Have you seen Solo, Braylon, Ross and Malachi try to give Reed an entry pass? Theyre terrible at it. It doesn't absolve Reed from any blame. But it plays a big part.

And there lies the difference between me and you. I can have an objective conversation on Reed. You can't. You labeled him soft for missing time due to a quad injury. You've never been objective about him. For whatever reason. You rely on numbers and metrics for everyone of your other opinions. When it comes to Taris, they suddenly don't matter. You're a sleepers media fan. It all makes sense. Taris isn't a perfect player. I've never claimed him to be. But you can literally use the "they can be better" for every player in the country. Because I have not seen on perfect player on any team this year.

So lets settle on some facts. Taris is top 5 in defensive efficiency in the country. Taris is top 10 in fg percentage in the country. And top 10 in both PER and defensive plus minus. UConn's defensive and offensive efficiency rise drastically when he's on the court. Taris will be at minimum 2nd team all BE, him and Zuby have very similar numbers, with Zuby playing about 10 more minutes a game. UConn has not lost a game this season when Taris has played. UConn has the number one 5 man unit in the country, this unit includes Taris. Taris would be the first UConn big man to average at least 14, 8, 2 blocks and a steal a game since Emeka Okafor. Not sure if you know, but that guy was pretty good.

Oh yeah and he wasn't healthy for the first half of the season, and may still not be.

Now again, tell me how underwhelming he's been. Its a joke.

No, I projected Tarris to be better than Zubi. I've had high expectations that he would show out given the starter role this year. All we have is Maya at this point if we want data, Zubi is ranked 9 spots ahead. All I'm saying is that if Tarris put in 80% of the effort of Zubi, he's be an AA. He has all the physical tools. Whether he is hurt or not, who knows. Maybe he is and he heals up and that makes a difference. I'll eat crow happily.

Are you using that random tweet with bad data to substantiate them being the best 5 man? The one that has Virginia Tech two. Look again.
