I was yelling at him (through the TV) for the 3rd foul. It was like a slight hip check 30 feet from the basket for no reason.

When they showed the replay it was very obviously a flop. The refs bought it. Did the ref on the baseline call it? Because he couldn't see through Karaban to see what Graves did. He just saw Graves go down like he took a right hook from Tyson. Graves is lucky he didn't get a T for it.

The Michigan State exhibition game has no impact on the resume, and we don't know about how the coaches' different priorities regarding & even within exhibition games affected scoring margins.

That said, we did watch the Huskies jump all over Michigan and then have the Spartans come back. And we witnessed a similar pattern in the BYU game.

Last night, we saw the first half margin swell to 11 at the end, and then we enjoyably watched the margin grow and grow some more.

That's what we've all wanted, and it's what Dan Hurley said he wanted. I hope it continues.

If nothing else, after a number of close games since the new year, the team finished January undefeated, with a large-margin win against an opponent that has been notably difficult to beat on the road.

I'm concerned that the team only had 7 free throw attempts and converted on fewer than half of them last night.

I'd strongly prefer to see more attacking at the rim, and more fouls drawn, especially by Demary, who I wish would have at least 5 FTs attempts every game. I also want Silas clocking 30 minutes per game, which necessitates him not excessively fouling.

This goes to show how important Kalkbrenner was to Creighton's overall game plan.
 
What I like about this team the most as well as previous teams is that we have a basketball culture that has been established. No whiners, no head angers, no prima donners. These guys get after loose balls like rats go after food. 0 quit. It is a great testament to Hurley and his staff as well as the types of kids who can thrive in his program.

No one hates him - a bit frustrated. Numbers are decent but don’t tell the whole story, rebounding per minutes is down. I felt like he’s played his C+ game most of the year.

Obviously I don’t mean people literally hate him. But I think the critiques on him are a little over the top. He’s had a rough year health wise and has still been one of our most consistent players. He’s a victim of unrealistic expectations if people are disappointed with the season he has had so far. We haven’t lost a game he’s played in. And maybe undefeated had he played in that game.

Yeah because people were calling him a lottery pick before the season which was never happening under any circumstances

Expectations for Tarris were first team BE. Kid with his size mismatch in most games should command more presence is all. His rebounding rate is down this year for whatever reason.

Offensively tbh it didn't look like we played any differently than we usually do. Only 2 major differences that I could see. 1) Tarris made good decisions and passes out of doubles and more importantly 2) the open shots went in this time

I agree. He’s averaged 14,8 and 2 in the month of January on 64% shooting. And his “lack of rebounding” showed itself with him have 11 or more rebs in 3 of those games. Our defense efficiency also has been markedly better with him on the floor. It’s all narrative driven at this point. Him and Silas were almost single handedly responsible for our turnaround on defense this year.

And his numbers would be stupid good if he could makes ft haha

If this is C+ Taris than what were your expectations lmao
 
Some news source (I believe the Courant) wrote this morning that he's still battling nagging injuries.

We have ONE loss. Some need to give this kid a break, some need to relax a little and some need to trust our staff a bit more than they do.

January was against a bunch of BE cupcakes and I think the eye test is what you want to apply here. Let's see what he does against StJ.

I did not say they had a bad coach or a bad home court. I said its a bad team. Theyre 12-10 and 6-5 in a weak BE. Did you at any point last night seriously think they had a chance to win? Did you think they had any chance of making a run once the lead got to double digits? They didnt lose by 30 because Dan Hurley took the foot off the gas. Both title teams lost to different teams with NBA talent on them. What is your definition of a bad team?

Maybe true, but stating this right after the Creighton game is comically bad timing. Reed didn’t play particularly well, Reibe played real well, the smaller fellas were scoring and rebounding, and we won by 30 pts.
