A++ post.McDermott is a hell of a coach, Creighton shout out of their mind, and we got shook by Clingan’s foul trouble. This was always going to be a very tough game. I don’t think this is a bigger concern, sometimes you just run into a team firing on all cylinders.
Castle has regressed the last 2 games. He is still hessitant on offense and deffering too much. He needs to take over like he did in the Providence game. Spencer and Karaban weren't scoring so he had to steup up. He is freshman so this type of regression is normal but sucks when it is in these big games.Positive: thought Castle played well tonight other than when he hit the backboard to the side of the rim on a straight on jumper for the 2nd time this season.
He doesn’t make his 3s when he thinks about them. He had been in a good rhythm before the last couple.Castle has regressed the last 2 games. He is still hessitant on offense and deffering too much. Cam and AK gave us nothing on either end. Steph to a lesser extent. Now we know that we aren’t some juggernaut that is matchup proof. Cam has been absolutely incredible all year but was borderline unplayable tonight. I’ll wager a guess that probably won’t happen again.
Hurley has been saying we are arguably the best offensive and defensive team in the country since Clingan is back. Well we were pretty stagnant offensively, plus missed a ton we may usually make, and no one really had any type of good game defensively.
Back to the drawing board.
Yeah Castle wasn't good especially in the 2nd half when we needed him to step up and help Newton. He could take his man off the dribble whenever he wanted.I think he had his worst game in quite some time
Really? That’s a difference of 4 threes. Sure they may have gotten rebounds and scored anyway but it could have also meant taking the lead when we got it down to 10.If they shot 35 percent from 3 they were winning, we had no good looks
Honestly, in this type of game you need Diarra in there. Castle doesn't have the court vision in isolation, and without a dependable shot, he becomes predictable and the perimeter defender leads him right into drop coverage and a Kalkbrenner special.I saw some alarming things, mainly Newton forced to be the primary catalyst, with all our shooters being blanketed off the screen action. We need Castle to be option 1A off the dribble.
Back to the drawing board was a compliment to the offense the staff has schemed. A team figured out how to defend it well, so now I have faith the staff will adjust accordingly. Wasn’t a dig.The idea that any team is "matchup proof" was stupid two days ago when people seemed genuinely mystified at the idea of this team losing and it's going to still be stupid tomorrow. No one goes undefeated anymore.
And "back to the drawing board" is just laugh out loud ridiculous. Some of you give my 13 year old daughter a run for her money in the dramatics department. What are they, 24-3?
Yeah he was thinking too much on offense the whole game and not just on 3s. Even on his driving he was hesitant. He needs to get more confident with being aggressive on offense. He doesn’t make his 3s when he thinks about them. He had been in a good rhythm before the last couple.
That was all from Newton creating shots for himself and 1 for ClinganReally? So when we got it down to 10, if they had 12 fewer points from 3 (meaning we took the lead), that wouldn’t have changed this game dramatically?
What nonsense: there is no such thing a “mojo.” Bad play created the loss, not whacky superstitious rubbish. Can we get the ‘Would another loss actually be a good thing ?’ thread permanently deleted from the Forum ?
Talking about losing is bad mojo. Exorcise it now.
this wasn't even his "worst" game this week. This was his worst game as a Husky, bar none. He played good D on Schiermann for a half. He was not good.
