So Bracketology has UCONN facing Creighton in the second round. That got me wondering, how does DD do guarding McDermott? He seems to get his points regardless, but I think DD has the athleticism and length to give him problems. Is McDermott a current version of Morrison?

I suspect he'd hit his average against UConn - I don't see anyone on our roster giving him much trouble. I'd going into that game assuming DM gets 30.

Key to the game would be making sure someone else doesn't go off as well.

Guy who scares me is Wragge. He's 6'7", 230 and he's hitting 48% of his threes. And it's not like he's sneaking those shots in....he's take 176 shots this year and 170 of them have been threes! The guy hasn't taken a two-point attempt since January 4th.

I think DD, Kromah, and Giff all see time on him. Type of player where you kinda have to resign to the fact that he'll get his points and contain everyone else.

I would love to see Kromah stuck on him all game. I'm sure he would score, but LK is a really good on ball defender.

Problem is McDermott has a very good post game. Kid just can do everything offensively. Kromah gives up a decent amount of height to him.

Inch to 1.5"
We would need multiple defenders. Creughton also has no rim protection and lacks quick perimeter defenses to slow down our guards. Unlikely to happen but not a terrible matchup for us.

I am in the "don't kid yourself, McDermott drop 35 on us" camp. DD is just not of the level defender to put up much of a fight, and our other defenders don't have the versatility to guard post/perimeter.

We would have to put the locks on everyone else and let McDermott have his points without crushing the integrity of our other defensive positions.

Are the AAC seedings going to be as bad as Lunardi is currently projecting? He has Louisville as a 5 seed. Are there really 16 teams better than Louisville right now? Neither UConn or Memphis are a in the top 20?

Hopefully we keep winning and move up.

I think Giffey would be our best bet against Doug. Kromah might be the best perimeter defender on the team, but as caw said, McDermott can be lethal in the post and Giffey has actually been pretty effective down there. Of course, Doug is a whole other animal than anything Giffey has seen, but he's probably the most versatile defender on the team.

But whoever drew the initial assignment is probably only part of the story. McDermott would probably see a lot of double teams, especially in the post. Ollie loves to have Boatright and Napier double down against dangerous big men because of their uncanny ability to cleanly strip them off the dribble. It's possible that McDermott would make us pay by passing out of the double team (I'm sure he's not unfamiliar with double teams at this point in his career), but I'm pretty confident in Ollie's ability to at least give him different things to think about.

Kinda reminds me of Adam Morrison. Slow him down maybe but not stopped.

If the best we have against McD is DD, we are in trouble. Okay maybe that's a bit harsh. The other poster said it best. Give McD his 40 and hope the final score is UCONN 65 Creighton 60.

McDermott's a machine scoring, has all the moves and will find a way to get his………as Fishy said guard the crap out of the others and hope for the best. They aren't great but they're a tough match up.

Again, for me watching that game I prefer Nova!

I am not too keen on playing Nova. They bring back all the pieces from the team that ripped us at the XL last year.

Against Creighton and Villanova I would just be most worried about guarding the three point line

I want this matchup. Bazz wants this matchup. Big Doug doesn't.
Because would run them out of the gym. You know, I don't know why we haven't seen any real pressing with all the time Bazz, Boat, Kromah and DD have together.
